Review: Running Wild

Running Wild
Running Wild by S.E. Jakes

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Fast cars, illegal street racing, motorcycle gangs and arrogant cops, what's not to like? For those who enjoy movies like Fast and Furious and Gone in 60 seconds, this is a book for you. This is, if you also enjoy some kinky m/m loving. Sean Rush is a guy's guy. He is the buddy who will be waiting with the car running and a shovel in the truck when you kill someone. He's loyal if a bit foolish at times. His problem? It's not that he is an adrenaline junkie. It's that he possesses poor impulse control. For someone who reacts more than thinks it through, either bad things happen or they need a keeper. For Sean, this keeper is Ryker. Ryker is a high ranking member in the Motorcycle Club. Sean comes onto Ryker in a drunken stupor at a bar. Not sure what happens, he ends up with an amazing one-night stand which turns into a month of occasional late night hook-ups.

The sex in this story is smoking hawt. While in reality it's probably not the best to have a lover break into an apartment and have their wicked way with you, in a fantasy, absolutely fantastic. This is also because I'm a kinky deviant who enjoys being surprised and taken roughly. This works well for Sean too because this type of sex causes a rush which he gets high off of. It helps him stave off his need to steal cars. The sexual tension between Sean and Ryker is good. The bit of rough body play and restraints kinks it up nicely. Since this is the first in the series, one can only hope a teasing ménage possibility will happen. Because two alpha males topping a strong yet slightly submissive bottom is a mouthwatering wet dream.

Sean is an interesting character. He is a poster child for "idle hands are the devil's playground". If he isn't kept busy, the temptation to steal a car is too great. The problem is he is too good at it. Because of his skill, he is in demand. Law enforcement agencies want to take him down. Various criminal groups want him to work for them. On top of it, there are gang politics he's not aware of which places him in more danger. The plot and the suspense in this story is written well. It keeps a reader interested. When the proverbial rug is pulled out from under Sean, it's amusing and arousing. Ryker exhibits strong dominant tendencies which is attractive. He does have his hands full, keeping Sean out of trouble. (Spankings, please!) This m/m romance is recommended for those who like biker men and mischief makers.
