Review: Rock Courtship

Rock Courtship
Rock Courtship by Nalini Singh

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Rockstar lovers will enjoy this short story in the new series Rock Kiss. In this novella, Thea, Molly's older sister falls for David. David is the gentleman drummer who wants Thea and will stop at nothing to gain her attention and affection.

This sweet romance is well done incorporating today's technology. The email memo between Thea and David are darling. David's systematic breakdown of Thea's defenses is a bit stalker-ish yet it comes across as romantic. The way Ms. Singh worded the memos, it is erotic and intellectually stimulating. For readers who are task masters the way David argues his points are well done.

This in-between book could have been short and fluffy. Instead, it's a good length book giving a good glimpse of the rock band from the outside. It also spends a good deal of time showing the bonds between the band members and exposing a bit of their dark past secrets.

The romantic tension in this story is well done. Ms. Singh creates characters who make mistakes yet aren't blasted for every little misstep. The give and take between Thea and David is realistic. It's refreshing to read about two characters who are mature and won't play games with each other. One thing which is very enjoyable about Ms. Singh's plot devices, it's not about petty misunderstandings. The conflicts arise naturally and the resolutions may be hurtful but they ultimately end up with a happily ever after. Recommended for romance lovers who are waiting for the next book in this series; this will help the wait go by faster.
