Ms. Van Yssel delivers another great BDSM Gateway book in the Bondage Series. Sophia is a woman who enjoys the outdoors, bonfires and primal sex. When her camping weekend promising of free love is rained out, she seeks shelter at the Bondage Ranch's main building. This brings her into contact with the kinky weekend seminar and play which she has no interest. D/s and BD are totally outside of her preference. When SM is involved, she wants even less to do with it. This weekend, Bondage Ranch is hosting a guest speaker who is really good with impact play. Since both the kinky and camp weekend are hosted by Bondage Ranch, it makes sense for all to be combined together and wait out the storm. When Sophia is volunteered to be the demo bunny for a flogger demonstration, she enters a whole new world.

Colby is looking for no strings kink. When he flogs Sophia, small sparks fly. He wants to explore more with her and is surprised to learn she is not only new to kink but has no interest. Ms. Van Yssel does a great job of showing how people can enter into this lifestyle even when they have preconceived notions and biases against sadomasochism. The story shows how Sophia struggles with accepting her pleasure through pain whilst denying this kind of pleasure is acceptable. This make her more relatable. Her kinky awakening with Colby as her guide is erotic and enjoyable. Opening her eyes to the possibilities is not without its hiccups though.

Ms. Van Yssel shows how relationships with a kinky aspect are not too different than vanilla relationships. Long distance, family and jobs impact both. They way Colby and Sophia are able to come together despite the various obstacles is nice to see. There are no contrived misunderstandings. The two work out their needs and find a way to make what they want come to fruition. This erotic journey for Sophia is a nice sedate pace. This erotic romance is recommended for those who are interested in exploring kink.
