Review: Spirit Dances

Spirit Dances by C.E. Murphy

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Joanne is once again in a sticky situation. Amusingly enough, she even compares herself to Angela Lansbury. This story references more American pop culture then many of the books I've recently read. I like this since my mind works in similar patterns of making connections by concepts. I digress. Joanne is starting to remind me of Anita Blake. Each story she increases in power exponentially. She also is starting to settle in and accept that she's becoming more powerful. At least Joanne doesn't hump anything with a heartbeat. At the rate she's going, I don't think she's ever going to get laid.

In Spirit Dances, I'm impressed with the amount of Native American mythology incorporated. I feel like I'm receiving and education. I know nothing about this mythology so I'm fascinated. For all I know, this could all be made up shit. Regardless, I'm very impressed with Ms. Murphy's world. …

Review: Alpha's Pride

Alpha's Pride by S.L. Armstrong

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Alec loves his alpha, who has been his mentor for decades. Nahele has kept the clan safe for centuries. Perhaps it has been centuries too long as he has been letting things slide which bothers Alec. Alec does his best to ask Nahele to change, but nothing changes and Nahele scoffs at Alec's worry. With no recourses left, Alec challenges Nahele for the Alpha position to implement his changes. Alec wins. Feeling betrayed, Nahele undermines Alec at every turn.

I feel for Alec. He loves Nahele but he wants to protect the clan. This was a moving story about how a mentor-lover situation turns into adversaries. My heart hurt as Nahele slices Alec's heart into pieces with every disrespect. While I understand Nahele felt betrayed, it didn't have to play out the way he forced it. Nahele's pride and vanity was his downfall.

This world created by duos S.L Armstrong and K. Piet is different. I liked the characters who are h…

Review: The Vampire Skye

The Vampire Skye by Fulani

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Would you like to work for a secret government agency to help support vampires blend into the human society? Although the job is similar to social work combined with relocation. Worse, the office is located in a basement deep beneath a nondescript building. The plus side is the night hours for a night owl and the ability to interact with hot sexy vampires.

Leah was recruited in this "Men in Black" job and is basically a low level caseworker. She helps vampires with new identities since they don't age and need to be on the constant move. She never intended to become involved with Skye, but she couldn't help being attracted to Skye.

The more I learned about Skye, the more I was intrigued and turned on. I have to compliment Leah for her taste in women because it appears we share similar preferences. Leah's personal involvement and attraction to Skye leads to her downfall with her agency. Fortunately, Skye finds a jo…

Review: Stallion's Accord

Stallion's Accord by Silvia Violet

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Who doesn't want a man who's hung like a horse? Sign me up to be with a powerful man who also shifts into a horse. A man I can ride in either form is just so sexy. I wasn't one of those little girls who loved horses, but I can change my attitude after learning about Calder. Calder is a governor of a planet that is rather rustic. For a city girl like Raya, that is a death keel. She can't handle living in a world where there is little technology. She can't even check in with her planner because there is no connectivity.

I feel for Raya. I love my technology toys. While I try to keep the gadgets hidden in my home, I'd rather not live without them. Raya falling in love with Calder was not on her master plan. She has a high power career to consider. The country bumpkin ways of the residents on Calder's planet is too stifling for her. How can she ever adjust? She's torn as she thinks about Calder …

Review: Eyes of an Innocent

Eyes of an Innocent by Valentina Heart

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

How would you feel if everyone knew you were a virgin just by the colour of your eyes? I guess if it were me, since I don't find it to be a stigma to be a virgin, it would be fine. Not so for Reji who is dating a viperous girl, Cherry. Cherry's cruel words make Reji question himself. It pushes Reji to try something daring which places him in a dicey situation. Nearly raped, Reji is terrified of every male, even a trustworthy Teacher, Shen, who saved him. The only good thing about Reji trying to find a lover at a gay bar is meeting Shen. Shen is not what he expected for a lover and Reji panics over his sexuality.

This is the first in the series by Ms. Heart. I read these out of order and I have to say it doesn't matter. I enjoyed this first book too because it was sweet and lays out the world Ms. Heart is trying to create. I have to say, I like this world of Ms. Heart. The reason why I like it is because her Tea…

Review: A Summit City Christmas

A Summit City Christmas by Ethan Day

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Boone is back! Boone's snarky remarks, kooky friends and funny family never cease to make me laugh. In this fun short story, we see Boone trying to keep his neurotic behaviours under control as they bring two families together – his and Wade's. Wade is his manly stable self. He's the only calm shelter amongst the whirlwind cast of characters. Even Wade's sister is a bit on edge with her Tasmanian Devil children.

Mr. Day creates a warm family holiday piece where the family eccentricities add flavour to the day's festivities. The story is filled with laughter and joy and brought a smile to my face. Amidst all the holiday cheer, we are still treated to smexy scenes with Boone and Wade getting it on. They haven't lost their energetic passion for each other yet. They will be the two old lovers in a nursing home, chasing after each other and getting yelled at to keep it down. The story climaxes at a lovely …

Review: Solstice Craving

Solstice Craving by Silvia Violet

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Crawling on hands and knees begging to be taken back by a woman scorned is not the easiest task. Jackson's wolf clan is being attacked by rogue wolves. The only way to save them is performing a sexual ritual. The requirements for the sexual ritual are pretty funny. Basically, the alpha or someone directly related to him has to have an ex-lover forgive and give their heart over again.

I winced when I read this part. Jackson cheated on the love of his life and made sure she caught him screwing another woman. Personally, if a boyfriend I thought I was going to marry cheated on me in this way, there would have been bloodshed. Both the cheating boyfriend and the slut would not leave unscathed. That's the type of woman scorned I am. Cara, on the other hand, hides her tail between her legs and runs away.

Cara is back in town and she never forgot nor forgave Jackson for breaking her heart. She hopes to avoid him. Fat chance of …

Review: Worth

Worth by Adrienne Wilder

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Are we ever going to learn more about these Dragons? These Kin? In this new story, we learn about them more from the glossary in the beginning of the book than in the story itself. Where these dragons come from, we don't know. We do learn how the human laws are unfair and discriminate against those who are kin. Liam is a human, or so he thinks. He's a young boy doing his best to protect his two younger brothers from their father. Even though they are only half brothers, Liam loves and protects them better than anyone.

I have to state, this book is probably the most depressing book I've read so far this year. Since I'm already well over 130 books, this is saying a lot. This book is depressing because the amount of abuse Liam goes through is just inhumane. His stepfather is a son of a bitch who needs to be killed. Anyone who tortures and rapes a young boy just needs to be killed. That's not all, Liam is als…

Review: Plug and Engage

Plug and Engage by Valentina Heart

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ever just want a friend with benefits? Nothing complicated, just hot sex? Kai has it made with his Friday sex buddy, Cole. Neither Kai nor Cole are out. They keep their relationship quiet and it works well for them. For the past three years, they meet at a set time and enjoy themselves – no talking, just sweaty sex.

One Friday, it changes and Cole can't stop thinking about Kai. This is when things becomes complicated.

Ms. Heart writes the fear of being ousted as a gay man so well. I could feel the terror in Kai. I could also feel the desire Cole had for Kai to be more than just a tight moist hole to stick his dripping dick in. This story of becoming more than just a weekly one-night stand moved me. I loved Cole's push to be more intimate. What really pushed me over the edge was the hot domination by Cole. The bedroom scene with the bedpost had me on fire. I wanted so badly to be in that room watching Kai and Cole toget…

Review: A Man, a Jersey, and a Tight End

A Man, a Jersey, and a Tight End by A.M. Riley

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Long distance relationships suck and when a boy is a sub, he turns into a bratty sub. Brian and Daddy Paul are separated due to Paul's job. While Paul is out, Momma Jim is the one who has to take care of him. It's not as easy as it seems since Brian is hiding his submissive needs. To add to the turmoil, Baby Scott had a bad experience with the BDSM lifestyle so he is adverse to it. This makes Brian feel something is wrong with him. If his best friend finds BDSM to be deviant, doesn't that mean Brian is broken?

I'm really confused with the story. I feel like I've missed something in between the first book and this one. I don't understand why the BDSM is such a problem for them. It seems like BDSM is a big pink elephant in the room which none of them want to talk about. What confuses me more is that Scott and Jim have a St. Andrew's Cross in their room. Paul is a Dom with dominant friends.…

Review: Chairman of the Whored

Chairman of the Whored by Lucy V. Morgan

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Charlotte the alter-ego of Leila wants to continue to come out and play. Charlotte is the slutty whore who is paid for sex while Leila is the law abiding aspiring tax attorney. Pulled into Charlotte's web are Matt, Joseph and Charlie. Matt is the supposed good boy who wants to save her. Charlie is a former lover who turned her into kink (although it's not clear) and is now Matt's stepfather. Joseph is the HR violating boss of Leila who is paying to fuck her. Do you have that all straight?

This story was too messy for me. The story didn't flow; it was a bumpy read from beginning to end for me. For writing style, I give this a 1 star. I had to re-read passages and then try to figure out what was going on. It felt disjointed for me. It could be that the story is meant to be this way since Leila's mind was in a jumble. She didn't know who she wanted to be with and Matt was no different. M…

Review: Dreamer

Dreamer by Ann Mayburn

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Did someone spill my life story to Ms. Mayburn? Shan in DREAMER could have been me. The similarities shocked me and definitely helped me connect with her as the main character. While I possess no artistic creativity for jewelry and I am not adopted by two white gay men, there were so many other things I had in common with Shan, I was a bit freaked.

Shan is a Chinese woman who experiences nightmares from a young age. She dresses up in Goth gear yet loves Hello Kitty. Her submissive desires frighten her yet pull her in a way she can't explain.

I confess; I have a fetish for Hello Kitty. I can't explain it. Dressing in Goth wear is also my preferred fashion choice – even down to the blue streaks in black hair. While I don't live in a world with mythical gods and goddess, Shan does. Shan has many different ties to the gods through her best friend and parents. What she doesn't know is that she also has a direct line to the gods…

Review: On Probation

On Probation by Rachael Baron

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Wanking off in the office while fantasizing about your boss is probably not advisable.

Pat is a young and foolish little IT boy, what more could a person expect? I would at least expect he lock the door so he wouldn't be caught. No such forethought with horny and socially awkward Pat. Pat is caught with his pants down, literally.

Ms. Davis is the CEO of the company and she takes Pat to task for his indiscretion. What Ms. Davis does is sexual harassment case from hell. I'm appalled at how Ms. Davis is written to take advantage of Pat. I would have rated this one star had it not been for the smexy scene. I enjoyed her domination of Pat which I gave as three stars. The average between the sex and the storyline resulted in the two stars.

I enjoy boss and subordinate sexual tension. I especially enjoy the naughty power play between the two. I'm also a fan of femdom. This story made me cringe because I felt like I was watchin…

Review: Lord of the Abyss

Lord of the Abyss by Nalini Singh

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was wonderful. Why did I wait so long to read this book? Lord of Abyss is the fourth book in this series with Ms. Singh as the final writer. Even though it was the last one and I know the ending, I'm so enthralled I'm going to have to read the first three in this series. In this one, Micah is the youngest child of a beloved King and Queen who have been slaughtered by an evil sorcerer. He has no memory of his past. All he knows is his job as the Lord of the Abyss.

Determined to save the realm against her cruel father, Liliana finds Micah and tries to bring back his memories. She's under a time crunch because all four siblings must be united in order to defeat the blood sorcerer. This story while predictable in the happily ever after ending and the romance sparked between Liliana and Micah is so much more. The two characters are engaging. I feel sorrow for both. Both of them have lost so much. The…

Review: Milking and Spanking Ms. Goodbody

Milking and Spanking Ms. Goodbody by Roger Frank Selby

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Ms. Goodbody is maybe best named Ms. Busybody or perhaps nosy-body. She lets out her guest room and does the unforgivable, she spies upon her paying guests. Playing with herself while satisfying her voyeuristic cravings, she accidentally lets the couple know she's watching them. Since this story is so very short, I won't reveal the rest. Suffice to say, the title of this story says it all.

What I would like to point out is that this story moved in a tight and concise manner. I hesitate to label this a BDSM story since there was very little BDSM. It would do as a SugarKink. I believe some may want to throw it into the BDSM category due to a bit of spanking and some fetish milking. Milking is really not my thing unless it's in ageplay. Since there was no ageplay in this story, the milking fetish fell flat for me.

The seduction of Ms. Goodbody was so very easy that I'm surprised she di…

Review: A Chip in His Shoulder

A Chip in His Shoulder by L.A. Witt

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Love and hate are so close at times; it's hard to tell in the heat of passion.

Liam was betrayed by Daniel and has the opportunity to confront him after five long years. Liam's been given a contract to assassinate Daniel by Daniel's father. With pleasure, Liam greets Daniel with a loaded gun in both his hand and pants. Not all is what it seems. Daniel still loves Liam and his world has come crashing down around him before he had a chance for his plans to come together. Old wounds are opened as Liam confronts Daniel. New wounds are created as they come to an understanding.

This story is totally cyberpunk, which I like. I would like to see more about this pretty cool cyberpunk world. The controversial mods totally had my inner geek girl squealing in delight. The world was explained just enough that I understood the warring factions and the idealists. I liked the gadgets incorporated into the story. It was sort of bo…

Review: His Deep Submission

His Deep Submission by Kim Action

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is one of the best free BDSM femdom books I've read. I would recommend it to others to read. It was hot. The husband submitting to the wife just turned me. I have no desires for this type of relationship dynamic, but this was so well written, I ended up playing with myself after reading it. My poor DH was sleeping so I had to take care of it myself.

Michael has been a frustrated husband who has been snarky and fighting with Vicki. Their marriage of six years is going down the tubes and they aren't sure why. It's the SEVEN YEAR ITCH at six years. Vicki wants a divorce. Or at least she's considering it. Michael is desperate. When Vicki finds the BDSM porn Michael is viewing on his computer, it all becomes clear.

What I like about this, is the openness of Vicki to want to save her marriage. Unlike a wife wanting to submit to her husband in a BDSM relationship and the husband generally playing alon…

Review: Mistress Divine

Mistress Divine by Alex Jordaine

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A sexual slave only obeys his mistress and suffers even when she is in the wrong. At least this is how Paul's life is structured. Paul is a submissive male who has dedicated his life to his mistress, Caroline, as a 24/7 slave. He even gave up his job for her. He is completely dependent upon her and if she should tire of him and kick him out of her house, he would be both homeless and penniless. This is a pretty frightening prospect and why many vanilla people do not understand how a person could allow themselves into this situation. Reading MISTRESS DIVINE will probably test many people's comfort zone. I believe it even tested mine. It was not the BDSM content which pushed me to my limit; it was what I considered mistreatment of Paul by Caroline which upset me.

This story as far as SM content goes was amazing. I enjoyed the sadistic scenes. I may not understand how someone can derive pleasure from the sheer intensity of …

Review: Marked for Surrender

Marked for Surrender by Jennifer Leeland

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mistress Ball Breaker is quite the intimidating title. With a title like this, one could assume this femdom BDSM story is going to be nasty and cruel. That person would be wrong. In Marked for Surrender, Andia’s reputation precedes her. Her family history marks her as a woman on a vengeance for anyone who is a traitor to their world. Starting out as an 18 year old Domme in a world which looks down upon Dommes and male subs, Andia isolates herself on a planet and away from politics. Her job is to punish those who betray their world. A couple of decades later and thousands of successfully broken male dominants, the council sends her two men who are questionable in their traitorous acts. Zevon and Christophe are accused of working with the Blueshift Brotherhood. This is an enemy of their state. As punishment, they are sent to Andia to be broken into submissive men.

The Nyral world is interesting because while it e…
