This book was just okay for me which is why it is a 2.5 star. Since I truncate, it's a 2 on GR.

I enjoy femdom stories. In fact, I love them. It doesn’t matter to me if the submissive or slave is female or male, it all works for me. In this short collection by Ms. Powers, we are treated to a variety of femdom tales. Each of the combinations from F/f to F/m are ones I’m excited to read.

This collection seems unfinished. Some of the stories contained neither beginning nor end, just a middle. It’s almost as if we are wandering through a BDSM party and only catching glimpses of each scene. This is not my preferred writing style. While the scenes were tantalizing, I barely tasted it before it was ripped away from me. I couldn’t even feel yearning for more because I blinked and the scene changed. At one point, I was sure some of the storie…

Review: Fury

Fury by Laurann Dohner

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I had to see what all the hoopla was about. Some people love the New Species series, others hate them. I'm a lover not a hater. I enjoyed this first book quite a bit. I read through the entire book in one sitting. Three and a half hours later I was so wired I couldn't go to bed.

We are at the beginning of this new world where humans have been DNA spliced with animals. This world is almost identical to [a:Lora Leigh|2614|Lora Leigh|]'s Breed series. Pretty much everyone who has read Ms. Leigh's Breed series says the same thing.

1. Evil scientists torturing hybrids.
2. Animalistic qualities such as fangs, strength, hearing/smelling, etc.
3. Most importantly, the dicks of each hybrid male takes on characteristics of the animal. Yup, you got it. A knot for the canines!
4. Pure human hate groups
5. Creating essentially a reservation/compound as …

Death in the BDSM Lifestyle

I am saddened by a post in fetlife which details the death of one of the founders of Kink Engineering.  This young man, 35 years of age died through an accident that was just heart breaking, especially for his lover.  Basically, the young man broke the safety rules.  There are two things when done together result in a high probability of death.  Never be fully restrained AND be alone at the same time.  In this case, Matt hit the probability.

Matt is one of the few who design and build vacuum beds.  This is a very erotic type of play which takes mummification up to another level.  While I personally have never played this or seen it in real life, I've seen videos of it and I'm always a bit unnerved.  It is not my type of fetish yet I understand it's appeal.  It's isolation in an extreme way while involving restraint.  Pretty sexy and sometimes very hot, temperature wise.

Matt always said, don't do this alone, it is never …

Review: Institute Of Correction

Institute Of Correction by Talia Skye

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Environmentalist messages with kinky BDSM and a mental ward is an odd combination. The first few chapters, I'm as confused as the main character Wanda. She's an elite fighter, this I definitely know. On top of this, we know she follows authority well. This tells me Wanda is in some kind of Special Forces. Unfortunately for us, we are just as clueless as Wanda since her memory is MIA. There is urgency in her mind to complete a task and not disappoint someone. But who she fails or what she's supposed to do, these are all hidden from her.

What we do know is the mental ward she's in uses some special practices which are not standard or at least not standard in the States. Dr. Varata and his trio of nurses apply some innovative therapy to help cure Wanda. She's diagnosed as insane. To help her, she's tied up, spanked, caned, treated to electro-therapy and many other deviant cures. Even the padded cell is …

Review: Room at the Top

Room at the Top by Jane Davitt

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Liam, is the Dom I love. He's not without flaws, but he's perfect to me. Without fancy equipment or tools, he exuded a dominant demeanor which has me wanted to kneel at his feet. His creative ways to torment Jay and Austin had me panting with excitement. For a straight guy, he's physically sexual with two gay men. And I'm just fine with this.

Jay and Austin are two cute submissives who don't possess a single dominant tendency between them. They can't even switch. Poor buggers. Patrick, their service Top leaves and they hit rock bottom. It isn't easy for them. I'm glad Patrick did step up and recommend Liam as a possible service Top.

Over the course of a few weeks, the service becomes more. We clearly see a relationship building between the three. This is expected because I find that a truly D/s relationship requires trust and with trust, feelings are going to develop. One could argue …

Review: Kneel To Me

Kneel To Me by Argus Marks

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first ever anthology type book where I enjoyed every single story. This is like buying a CD from an artist where I enjoyed every song on the album. Unheard of! I have many albums and I can count on one hand the number of albums I loved every song. I can also tell you for the anthology like this one, how many I really enjoyed and became super hot reading, that would be one.

When I read the forward by Ms. Burka, I confess to rolling my eyes. I thought, "Lovely, one of those people". There are people who look down upon what is loosely categorized as porn. They want to make the distinction because society paints anything with sex in it as porn. I'm one of those people who actually enjoy the "Cindi" stories Ms. Burka rips on at the beginning of the book. I am not ashamed of it either. It feeds a desire I have and I enjoy it. It makes me wet, the unadulterated raw humiliation and degradation of…

Review: Pete and Samantha's Guide to Seasonal Sex

Pete and Samantha's Guide to Seasonal Sex by Peter Birch

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What is the clothing fashion for Spring of 2012? What is the new colour for this year? How about, what is the sexual sensation for Spring of 2012? Bemused, I had to read this guide to see what was in the "in sexual activity" for Spring of 2012. In PETE AND SAMANTHA'S SEASONAL SEX GUIDE, I was pleasantly surprised at the format.

This guide is a mix of research, education and smexy fetish stories. The combination of the three topics is sexual rhapsody for me. This is the first I've come across this format. I'm hooked and want to read every single seasonal sex guide. For Spring, we learn about some pretty kinky mating rituals and where they originated. I have to say, giving of chocolate eggs has a new meaning to me during Easter time. I'm going to have to give my lover chocolate eggs in hope for some lovely whippings in return.

I found the insights through the interviews to be e…

Review: Red Lust

Red Lust by Sindra van Yssel

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Are you a submissive or do you just want to play a bit? Stella isn't new to BDSM yet in some ways she appears new. Others have accused her of being a painslut, and not in a good way. Stella is a doctor of physical therapy who enjoys impact play, specifically flogging. Le Petit Mort is the local BDSM club where Stella enjoys bottoming. She rarely repeats with Dom/mes because she doesn't enjoy the submission part.

Stella is interesting to me. Not everyone has to be a submissive to enjoy impact play. I like how Ms. van Yssel shows a different side of BDSM with just the SM side of it. It does start out with SM focus and morphs into a D/s relationship. This doesn't always happen like this, but when it does, it is so satisfying.

Evan is new to town. He is a Dom with friends at Le Petit Mort. He's not actively looking, but if he finds a submissive, he is willing to play. He finds Stella aka Starlight to be of interest. His …

The first ten chapters feature popular BDSM skill sets. The second ten chapters focus on fantasies and philosophies. I found this book to be awesome and will be recommending to all the new to BDSM readers and kinksters alike.

I think this book is even good for those who have been around for awhile. It’s a great refresher. What I liked most is each chapter was written by a person who specialized in that topic. …

Review: The Male Bridesmaid: Chastity, Forced Feminization and Female Domination

The Male Bridesmaid: Chastity, Forced Feminization and Female Domination by Sabrina Jane Morton

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this book way more than I thought I would. It isn't a nice femdom book. This is a dirty depraved fantasy book. Yes, some of these things done to Gary are possible, but not all. Gary reads too many fantasies on his Kindle no less about sissification and femdom. He's finally caught by his fiancee Alison.

Alison is pissed off and totally disgusted. This is where the story lost me and I had to completely suspend belief. If a woman finds it so disgusting, why the hell would she dive into it full steam ahead like this? The lame excuse, "overload him to cure him" is like telling me, let's give the alcoholic another liter to see if it will cure him. Yes, apple to oranges, but you get my point.

Regardless of Alison's delusions and piss poor attitude, I enjoyed the humiliating scenarios she put Gary through in both private and pub…

Review: Yours to Take

Yours to Take by Joely Sue Burkhart

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A triangle is the strongest structure because of their ability to bear heavy loads without collapsing. In YOURS TO TAKE, this is evident with Vicki and her ménage a trois with Jesse and Elias.

Jesse is a homeless artist with model looks. My heart cries for Jesse as we learn about his life and how he ended up homeless. When he hit rock bottom, he stuck. The only thing he lived for was a bit of time with Vicki when she saw him at the park.

Vicki is a recovering criminal defense lawyer. She left the high power job as it was slowly killing her. Instead she's designing a clothing line in her own business venture. This part of the plot made absolutely no sense to me, but I rolled with it. Vicki's relationship with Elias is strained due to an unfortunate event when their work lives crossed and blew up. Basically, Elias is a detective whose partner was killed by a criminal Vicki defended.

The threesome is an interesting balan…

Adam's Obsession by Sabrina York

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Interoffice romances are verboten for a reason. When it ends, it rarely ends well. Katherine Hart learned this lesson the hard way. Her last job ended poorly through a broken affair which painted her as a slut. Determined to remain professional in her new job, she becomes the resident ice queen among IT geeks. Why she thinks this will keep the guys away I do not know. I work with IT guys and this just makes Katherine the star of their own private porno shows at night. Still, Kat uses her ice queen façade as armour for two long years while she lusts after Adam Trillo, one of the company’s founders. The only time she releases her wildness is via an on-line chat room under the handle - WILDKAT. Her on-line hottie is SAVAGE.

Yes, the handles are rather cheesy. The on-line chatting on the other hand is pretty realistic. I must confess my chats are a bit more risqué than Kat and her chat buddy. As expected, we find ou…

Review: Damsel in Distress

Damsel in Distress by Troy Seate

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Sting (Kink) Rating: 3 Stars

Story Review Rating: 3 Paddles

Ever have fantasies about cops stripping you down and having their wicked way about you? What if it really happened? And it was done with your spouse watching? In “Damsel in Distress”, the first short story, husband and wife Sam and Sara are taken in for a ride by sex fiend Sheriff Layton. I’m going to rate this book based on this first and third story since both received the highest rating.

This was a fast and smexy little scene as one would expect. A woman is jailed for speeding. The remote location allows both sheriff and his deputy to manhandle Sara for a few days before her husband rides in to the rescue. I think it would have been a bit edgier if Sam was also taken for a ride by the deviant duo.

The third story, “Who Pays?” by JR Roberts is the second one I enjoyed most. Of course, there is another cop in this story who takes advantage of a couple …

Review: Bound for the Forest

Bound for the Forest by Kay Berrisford

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

What do a former military captain and an orphan boy have in common? They are brought together by a magical force compelling them to protect the ancient Greenwood forest. Brien is the heir to his ancestral home in Greenwood. His parents are deceased and his fey sister is on a loony binge. Brien can't stand the magical talks of the Green Man and how there are forces out there he can't comprehend. He's a man in the real world and he just wants to sell his home for some money to fund his wandering travels, preferably with a woman on his arm.

Scarlet is a young woodman ransacking Brien's home. Brien accuses Scarlet for being a thief and wants to punish him. From here, we fall down a rabbit hole with Brien. He's dragged into a world with druidesses and forest spirits. They try to convince him of his power inherited through his family line. Brien doesn't want to hear any of it. His focus is on Scarlet'…

Review: Dark Soul Vol. 4

Dark Soul Vol. 4 by Aleksandr Voinov

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Is there ever a perfect balance between work and personal life? In DARK SOUL VOL 4, Silvio is taking care of business for Stefano. The Russians learn the hard and bloody way not to mess with Stefano's business. I loved the way Silvio protected Stefano. He made a statement with a bang.

Now with the Russians running scared, one would think Stefano can take a little break. Not so. Now his wife is accusing him of keeping a mistress. How can Stefano explain to her what is going on without risking his life? All I know is secrets are never good. I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop on this one. This constant worry of being found out makes my stomach knot in worry for Stefano. Stefano is clearly bisexual yet he is fixed on his desire for another man as equating to homosexuality. This is definitely a bad categorization for the organized crime syndicate.

This is the confusing part for me. Why is it so black and white? I…

Review: Whips and Wax

Whips and Wax by Bonnie Bliss

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is a 3.5 star for me.

Marie and Neil are back. This kinky couple first made their appearance in the sweet Chains And Chocolate story. Marie wanted to spice up their sex life with some kinky play that sometimes delved into BDSM. In this latest installment, Neil seems to be in the full swing of things. Neil purchases some toys and clothes to be delivered to their home while he's at work.

Marie is a bit naughty as she opens a box and decides to get started without Neil. Now at this point, where she's obviously disobeying their agreed upon rules, I was already anticipating her being caught. Just as suspected and hoped, Neil caught her red-handed. From there, the story moves to a smexy kinky scene.

I enjoyed this short story. It showcases the fun a couple who find BDSM later in their marriage. This is a very believable contemporary story about a loving couple who wants to get their kink on. Ms. Bliss does a good job of de…

Review: Don't Make Me Think

Don't Make Me Think by Steve Krug

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Personally, I hate the title of this book. It's insulting. When people tell me they don't want to think, I look down upon them. Yes, I'm one of those people. If we don't think, I believe the person should just be turned into an animal. (Yes, my BDSM tendencies are coming through here.) Perhaps the author specifically picked this title to be provocative in order to have people like me read it. While I loathed the title, the information in the book was great.

I am impressed with how it was laid out and even better, the clarity in which he explains each of his ideas was the best. I'm no html programmer. I'm not even a web designer. However, I can appreciate this book quite a bit. It is even tying into my work to my surprise. I will be applying many of these guidelines in a project I'm currently working on. I liked his usability test explanation. I definitely need to have people test th…

How to start out with BDSM Part I

Recently, I have been approached by several members new to the BDSM GR group who have expressed interest in the BDSM lifestyle. Some have read BDSM books and want to know how to encourage their spouse to become a Dom/me or sub. How do they approach their spouse/significant other? What do I recommend as a first step?

First, I want to state that I am not an experienced Domme nor am I a trained sub. I am a switch who loves to read, attend BDSM class and experiment with my spouse. I'm more a of kinky kind of gal. Second, the steps I recommend are from my perspective as someone who has been through these initial journey. I'm still learning. For what it's worth, these are my personal recommendations.

What is BDSM?

I recommend first learning about BDSM activities at a minimum. There are various websites that list a glossary. BDSM terms lists many of the different activities as well as the BDSM terminology. (Still in progress)

      Or if you …

Review: Where There's Smoke

Where There's Smoke by L.A. Witt

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The writing was well done. The author's mistake - involving political views in a romance novel. It's one thing to add politics into a story. It's another to trash on party groups in a manner that will turn readers off. I nearly gave this a 1 star as a DNF and wanted to return to my reviewing blog telling them that this would be my first DNF book out of the 130 books I've received from them in the past year. That's how irritated I was. Fortunately, I gritted my teeth and plowed through the tasteless bashing. I will say, this is probably the last book I'm willing to read from the author. Unfortunate as she did mention writing a f/f book which is hard to come by. I'm not really interested in being labeled as uneducated and stupid. Basically, my thoughts are - I guess I'm too dumb by her definition. The logically, I can't possibly comprehend good writing so I guess I'm too stupi…

Review: Society of the Golden Rose

Society of the Golden Rose by Breanne Erickson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Is this merely a story or is a diary of Breanne Erickson? I'm not sure and several chapters into the story, I'm not sure I care. The reason, this story is H.A.W.T! I must confess that I am a f/f genre lover. I also enjoy femdom greatly - as long as I get to be the sub. I could switch, but it really isn't my preference. In Society of the Golden Rose by Breanne Erickson, we are treated to some intense BDSM initiations and non-con. The sadism and humiliation in this book is heavier than many of the BDSM books out there.

Breanne is a self confessions humiliation and pain slut. The amount of pain she suffers and yet still manages to orgasm has my mind boggled. In this story, it's more than just the intense impact play. It's also a story about best friends who help each other. Kari is Breanne's best friend, former mistress and lover. Through a series of events which lead to blackmail, …

Review: The ABC's of BDSM

The ABC's of BDSM by Dama deNoche

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Didn't know that Vanilla is more than a flavour for ice cream? Ever heard of a goat ejaculator? Did you know it can be used to cause a man to orgasm? Not sure the difference between a slave and a submissive? These questions and more are answered in THE ABC'S OF BDSM. This book is a very good glossary. On content alone, I would give it a 5 star. This is an excellent reference guide, which I will now be recommending to every single new person to the BDSM lifestyle. I will even recommend it to authors just starting in the BDSM genre. This is how great the information provided in this book is, in my opinion. I only wish I had this book over 20 years ago when I first started and had so many questions.

Why is it that I only gave it as a 3 star? It's due to the layout, lack of diagrams and pictures. If Ms. de Noche decides to update this manual, I would like to see pictures for the various implements and toys she's…

Review: The Perfect Wife

The Perfect Wife by M.J. Rennie

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is a 3.5 star for me. Susan finally gets Mark to understand her submissive needs. Susan is Mark's second wife, friends with his first wife who was also his Domme. While Susan can be a Domme, she wants to be his sub. Unhappy with their marriage, Mark's boss helps him out. With Mark's eyes open and a mentor to become a Dom, Susan's desires are satisfied.

The submission of Susan or should I say the Domming from Mark wasn't as much as I'd have liked to see. I would have enjoyed a bit more BDSM scenes. Instead, Susan was more of a servant who occasionally received spankings and discipline. I did like the trip to Oceania. I wanted it to be a bit more. The teaser of the "repeat" couples was the most interesting part. I wished there was more about it that piece! And there was a lesbian couple. Mm hmm.

Just as I was expecting some more Maledom, we switch. It wasn't unexpected base…

Review: Taking the Dare

Taking the Dare by Lee Brazil

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Dan, why are you such a manipulative bastard? You are a miserable piece of work. Dan Blake is the last Blake brother without a mate. He's the second son of three. Since Misha is the youngest but with a different mother, Dan is the child without a dedicated loving parent. After I learned more about Dan's hang ups, I shed a tear for him. It must hurt to be the odd man out. His mother loved his oldest brother best. His father loved his younger brother best. His stepmother loved her son, Misha, the youngest brother, best. Who loved Dan the best? Which parent favoured Dan the most? From Dan's perspective, no one - he was always second best.

I can't imagine what it is like to feel second best. To do your best and be almost good enough yet not quite is rather ego shattering. No one remembers the honourable mention. We are a society focused on winners and the number one spot. This is where Dan's lover Morgan Hawke comes…

Review: Safeword: Matte

Safeword: Matte by Candace Blevins

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Have you ever read a story and have a specific song run through your head while reading it? In the latest installment from the talented Ms. Blevins, I had one song running through my head. How does that song by the Judybats go? Here are the lyrics in the song, which summarize this story for me so very well.

"Pain makes you beautiful
I give you what you want, the pain and the pleasure
No sorrow tied
Tied to my hurting you
We delight in every torture I put you through
How did we find this place
This state where we satiate, where pain makes you beautiful"

Ms. Blevins is back with an awesome story, SAFEWORD: MATTE. This is the book I was expecting to follow up SAFEWORD: RAINBOW. In this story, Sam is a hard-assed divorce attorney with several martial arts championship awards under her belt. She's good at analyzing fights to figure out the weakness of her opponent. Basically, she can kick butt verbally and physically.…

Review: New Leather

New Leather by Debra Varva

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Carl the gay reporter wants to do a piece on Leathermen. His desire to do expose on the BDSM leather lifestyle had me wincing. Would this be good or bad? I am going to end up with a negative BDSM piece? To my delight, this story is done in a very good way and rather hot. James is the Dom showing Carl the lifestyle. It helps that Carl possesses submissive tendencies.

The bargain is 6 weeks, every weekend, Carl submits to James. This is when he learns about what it means to submit and also how impact play works. This story is a great one for New to BDSM readers. It's gentle in it's teaching since it is a new to BDSM learning. There aren't any heavy handed lectures which I appreciated. The budding relationship between Carl and James was also sweet. This was a nice erotic romance.

The only thing that bugged me was the author's usage of dominate. Dominate is a VERB not a noun. Several times she called James a…

Review: Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss

Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss by Maya Banks

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Having your Daddy buy your husband is never a good sign. Nor is it a good start to a marriage when you don't know that your Daddy stipulated the man had to marry you in order to close the deal on their business merger. Ashley is the little princess who is tricked into marrying Devon. When the truth is revealed, it crushes her.

This trope is an old one yet Ms. Banks still makes it fresh in a way that I enjoyed it. Ashley is no spoiled princess. She's a sweet and fun loving woman. Her spontaneity is the best thing about her. Devon is not exactly a stick in the mud. He is a determined man who earned his success through hard work. Their lack of communication and false start is the downfall. It's a train wreck that both Devon and the readers know will happen yet we can't stop it.

I liked Devon. He wanted to do the right thing and he's not a bad guy. Yes he made some stupid mistakes and he d…

He's partnered up with Nathan to find a killer who also has psychic abilities. Both Nathan and the killer Malcolm possesses psychometry. This is the ability to read an object's history. This would make sense as they are related.

Book four of the Power Up! Series continues to reveal a bit more of the now defunct government psychic division. Ms. Harte is stingy in her information disbursement. We do learn there are hidden agendas Jack, Nathan and Avery's boss, keeps from the team. In addition, the secret client funding Jack's team of psychic investigators is someone none of them expected. This adds to the mystery and makes me want to learn more about this world.

Escape Velocity by Anah Crow

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Religions and cultures collide when Elios and Sender meet. Sender is from a conservative planet which is in poverty. Leaving the planet was the only way for him to have a better life and give his parents a chance to have another child. As a pilot in the military on Luna, Sender has it made. If only he could find a person to marry and be with for the rest of his life. The problem? He's gay and extrapolating from context clues we learn this is a bad thing based on how he's raised.

This story gives a very clear picture on how the duo of authors want a certain religion presented. They use negative terms like "backward" or "back water" to describe Sender's home. In addition, they make a point to say this one conservative world is the ONLY one that isn't thriving and is the poorest colony. the reader infers, it's due to their conservative ways and rigid religious ways. Review: Infamous

Infamous by Sherrilyn Kenyon

My rating: 1 of 5 stars

Did someone swap out the Ms. Kenyon I've been dutifully following? I did not like this book at all. This book was a hot mess for me. Or perhaps this is how it supposed to be since it's a young adult book. If this is what young adult books are supposed to be like, then it's a damn good thing I never had books like this when I was a young adult.

The characters

In this timeline, Cherise is a cunt. There is no other word for her. She also needs to see a shrink because she's obviously bi-polar and also passive aggressive. The Cherise in the other timeline is a loving mother who does her best for her son. In this one, she's a shrieking harpy. She's the one who stands out most in this book.

This book is a clown car. The cast of characters coming out of this storyline is like the circus clown cars where no one is exactly sure how all those clown fit in it and when another one will pop out. I can't even …

Review: Fair Game

Fair Game by Patricia Briggs

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Anna is back! I love Anna the Omega. This story was a fast read for me. It's more romantic suspense this time which I thoroughly enjoy. Anna and Charles are together to catch a serial killer targeting supernaturals. In this one, we see them working together - no longer a broken Anna, but as a team. I love that. Watching them interact with Feebies and Homenuts was a treat. The Trippings was funny. With the Fae showing up, this was great.

This book had so many characters competing for my attention. Leslie the FBI I liked and admired. She's a strong and smart woman who isn't intimidated by another woman. I applaud Ms. Briggs showing how strong women can work together. In a slight variation of the "woman friendly movie test", this book is woman friendly. There are two women who talk to each other and it isn't about men.

The one I adored and lusted after most, was the fae - Alistair Beauclaire. I…
