Review: The Forest of Dark Delights

The Forest of Dark Delights by James Cox
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Happily ever afters only happen when the author stops a story at the right place. Beauty and the Beast ended with the curse broken. But what if it was not? What if, Gaston never died? In a fairy-tale reinterpretation, Mr. Cox poses this alternate ending. Get ready for an erotic m/m lovefest.

When Beast's curse broke, he should have lived happily ever after with Belle. With Gaston out of the picture, they should have had no issues. Things did not turn out as Beast expected. Beast is human and he reverts back to his human name, Adam. Belle's change makes her unrecognizable and he is afraid of her. She is not the only one who changes. Gaston may have fallen off a cliff, but he didn't die. It took him years to heal from his ordeal and now he is back. He wants something from Beast and Belle. When he confronts them, it is not as he envisioned.

The twist in this "after" the guy gets the girl is perverse …

Review: Love's Salvation

Love's Salvation by Jenny Penn
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Expecting to continue where the first book left off? Forget about it. This book has little to do with the first book in the series which makes it ideal to read as a standalone. The only tie in is the "Great Owl". The theme is in the same vein with two men who will share a woman.

Tex and Brock are werewolves who find Daisy with a little help from their "god". Daisy is a sweet female who is malleable under two alpha males. Or is she? She may be obedient but it does not equate to doormat. She just knows when to pick her battles.

This story took an odd turn with a curse tied to Devil's Peak and bloodlines cursed. This story takes a contrived miscommunication and an asshat father and makes it the central point of contention. This generates a type of angst that is frustrating. Arrogant men taking what they want and then lying about it is a story which seems to repeat itself through history. This causes long…

Review: Enigma

Enigma by Catherine Coulter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Spellbinding, heart pounding action, Enigma is a book not to be missed. I love this series and Ms. Coulter's writing just gets better and better. In the latest book, it is another twofer which is fantastic. The reader is taken on a wild ride to figure out why a mysterious man is trying to protect Kara Moody, a neighbor of Dillion's friend. As more information is revealed, the story starts to delve in what I like to call "Fringe" universe. It is kind of like X-files but closer aligned to fringe science which makes this story sort of plausible. I love these side steps in reality.

Whilst this race against time to find out who the mysterious man is and his end game, Cam and Jack are trying to track a ruthless killer. When it gets tangled up in politics, it becomes even worse. It's nice to see Cam and Jack together in another book. They have a dynamic similar to Dillon and Sherlock. Except, not as sexy hawt as a Dil…

Review: Lilly's Lessons

Lilly's Lessons by Jennie May
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When a spoiled girl turns into a woman, she doesn't magically become a mature loving wife. Unfortunately for Justin, he missed this memo and is saddled with a harridan who is not worth saving. I didn't like Lilly at all. She is selfish, spoiled and all around worthless. This is a bit different than the usual books I read from Ms. May. Full disclosure, I'm a fan of Ms. May so anything she writes, I will read. I may also be a little more bias because I love her brand of kink, even if I can't stand some of the characters. Because, this little bratty beyotch gets her hide tanned and it is so good.

IS this a real place? This clinic run by Dr. Stark needs to be a reality. Because there are so many daddy's little princesses who need this training. I'm all for it! Can I work there? I'll be happy to do medical examinations as well as disciplines! This is why I love Ms. May's books. She creates these plaus…

Review: All In For Love

All In For Love by Kat Henry Doran
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Paranormal lovers come sample six sexy short stories. The theme for this collection is a place called La Bonne Chance. From the creative minds of six different authors, be prepared to be transported into smexy worlds. Full disclosure, I picked this book up only for Ms. Buchbinder. The five other authors were bonuses.

First up, An Inn Decent Proposal by Sharon Buchbinder features two people trying to make their dream come true. Genie King reunites with a high school crush when she bids for an old inn she's wanted. She is a chef who has just enough money to purchase an inn she's loved. When one of the other bidders is her old crush, Jim Rawlings, things take an odd turn as they join forces to out bid a third person. This is a sweet romance with a bit of suspense. The theme of reviving something old into new is perfect to start out this lovefest. Nicely written with a smooth writing voice, Ms. Buchbinder sets the tone f…

Review: Shadow Lovers

Shadow Lovers by Jenny Penn
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

A fan of Ms. Penn's contemporary menage and more, this is a new experience... paranormal menage. The erotica is smoking hot as expected from Ms. Penn. This is the first in this series with two males fighting for the same woman. It is a fight three hundred years in the making. Perhaps this time around, Khal and Ryder will be able to keep their woman. If they do not make it right, who knows how long they will get another "redo".

For those who enjoy reincarnations, this one is for you. Readers who enjoy Tymber Dalton's Triple Trouble Series will also enjoy this one. Cookie is a hacker who disguises herself as a frumpy librarian. When her last heist crosses bath with two shocking gorgeous men, she quickly executes her exit strategy. What she doesn't know, is that she is the reincarnation of Khal and Ryder's lover. Her death caused a catastrophic event which plunged both Khal and Ryder's clans into darkness…
