Review: For the Roses

For the Roses by Tymber Dalton
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Not all doms are made equal. And not all men who call themselves doms should be one. This story hit me in the gut from the beginning. Meri is not just down on her luck. She's been kicked whilst she's down. I reckon if she wasn't as loved by her brother, she would be a suicide potential. It's amazing to see someone who is supposed to "love you" just walk away because of a cancer. I realize she never married her boyfriend/dom and that maybe should have been an indicator something was off. This long term relationship lasted as long as Meri was useful and pretty. The second she no longer was arm candy for her asshat boyfriend, he tossed her aside. Unbelievable.

The only good thing about being at the bottom is there isn't any lower a person can go. For Meri, this is true as her little brother rides in to the rescue. Bringing her closer to him, the two of them are able to help Meri heal and get back on her …

Review: Judgment of the Moon and Stars

Judgment of the Moon and Stars by Tymber Dalton
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The title is fitting as this is a judgmental book where two men collide only to be torn apart. Not sure how many times Ms. Dalton will continue to pound through about conservative Christians giving gay men a hard time. But they do say, write what you know. I find that many religions are against gays so this is nothing new, just disappointing. Disappointing that one's sexual identity is still a point of contention. Because frankly, if people are not involved in that person's sex life… who cares? Do these people have nothing better to do with their time? It is just unfathomable to me why people persecute in this manner. To add insult to injury, when it is their own mother, it is just unacceptable.

Noah is a man who's wound up tighter than a windup toy. He is terrified of being outed and yet he is an adult with a decent paying job--trying to live his life. But is it really a life when it is half of one wh…

Review: Crazy Pucking Love

Crazy Pucking Love by Cindi Madsen
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Week 8 of Shameless brings another new author to me, Ms. Madsen. I have to say, I was bit wary at first because I realized it is a new adult book. Still, committed to going outside my boundaries and reading all the lovely books I received as a gift, I dove in. I liked it. This is the 3rd book in the series and I was just fine reading this as a standalone. If there were references to other characters from the previous two books in the series, I didn't notice it.

This story is going to be a predictable melodrama of boy meets girl and then miscommunications run rampant. Megan Davenport is starting at the same college her older brother attends. She left for college a bit earlier because of some of the family matters that exploded for everyone to see. It's been painful for her and she wants a new start. College may just be the right place with no one knowing her. She has a list of items she wants to focus on for herself.

Review: A Spanktacular Fourth

A Spanktacular Fourth by Tymber Dalton
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When it comes to Independence day, the kinky group sometimes takes it to an extreme. I've personally been interested in fire floggers but to have fireworks mixed in? That is a bit extreme for me. This does stop the dynamic trouble duo… Max and Sean. It's all fun and games until someone gets burned!

This holiday celebration novella is a bit heavier than some of the others. It's nice to see how sometimes, even the best laid plans go awry. Between Cali's personal issues, power outages and bossy bimbo blondes showing up, this makes for a drama laden book in the series.

What I enjoyed most about this story is seeing what it takes to help run a BDSM club. It isn't easy. It isn't glamourous and sometimes, there needs to be a "bad guy" to enforce the rules. Being popular with an overwhelming number of people showing up may be good for the bottom line, but it does cause more potential people confli…

Review: The Negotiator

The Negotiator by Avery Flynn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Week 7 of Shameless brings us to Ms. Flynn. I believe I have found a new author I want to read. I generally stay away from vanilla contemporary as they are a bit too tame for me. This one is right up my alley. I loved the snarky attitude and I loved the plucky lead female. Clover Lee (real name Jane - as in Plain Jane) is a person I generally avoid. She gives me hives with her free spirited attitude. I completely understand wanderlust. I also completely understand being a commitment-phobe. I even get wanting to travel all over the world before settling down. What I don't get is the lack in steady employment. The way Clover flits from one job to the next so that she can do what she wants, that lack of stability would drive me crazy. I couldn't handle it.

Ms. Flynn makes it sound like such a wonderful thing... the ability to just go wherever and whenever and not being tied down. But is it really? I understand there are peopl…

Chasing Forever by Kelly Jensen blog tour

Chasing Forever is the final book in the series This Time Forever. Brian and Mal's story is special in all sorts of ways. Even though these books all standalone, Brian has been there since the beginning--as the character everyone loved to hate in the first book, and the character who seemed to have more to him in book two. In this final story, I share who Brian really is, and hope you'll all come to love him as much as I do. Then there's Mal, his other half, my serious soldier who has been waiting all his life for a challenge like Brian. Sometimes we have to be knocked lower than ever before in order to reach that high, and Mal's journey is one I treasure. I hope you enjoy reading this story of redemption and learning to live out loud.

Review: Blue Motel Room

Blue Motel Room by Tymber Dalton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When Avril Lavigne sang, "Why do you have to go make things so complicated? I see the way you're acting like you're somebody else gets me frustrated", she was talking about Eve and Kimbra. When it comes to making a slight mistake that has long term impacts, these two are definitely up there as doozies. To be frank, reading the blurb gave me a slight idea of what would happen. Within the first few pages, that sinking feeling in my stomach became the size of a boulder.

I really like Ron. He was in a few of the previous books in this series and this little mishap felt out of the blue with Eve. Dr. Ivan meeting up with Kimbra for some BD then ending up going more than he expected was a bit surprise. This story flowed well and is predictable in a comforting way. Could the reader guess what was going to happen? Definitely, and from the very beginning of the story. Did each following event happen as a reader may surmi…
