Review: To Wed A Werewolf

To Wed A Werewolf by Kryssie Fortune

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Kidnapped, sexually tormented and attacked by anaconda vines, how does innocent Sylvie survive this day?

Sylvie is a half-fae princess doing her best to keep her half-brother, King of the Fae, from declaring war on the Lykae. Sylvie is betrothed to Giles, a slimy self-centered stupid beta werewolf. When Sylvie tries to stop the wedding or at least reason with Giles, she is constantly blocked by a huge yet handsome werewolf, Caleb the Cold, King of the Lykae.

From the start of this story, it's humourous and wacky. Ms. Fortune possesses a good sense of humour which she infuses into this book. Her characters are a bit drama-ridden yet still endearing. Sylvie is a bit self-effacing due to her low self-esteem. Usually these types of females are abhorrent to me. This is because they are whiny and always going "boo hoo hoo". Sylvie may have some self-confidence issues, but her heart is true. She fights for the greater…

Review: Butt Pirates in Space

Butt Pirates in Space by Kiernan Kelly

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Spaceballs meet m/m porn with geeky science fiction references is how BUTT PIRATES IN SPACE comes across. Granted, with a title like this, a reader should fully expect some cheesy humor. This anthology does not disappoint. It is filled with odd ball, sometimes juvenile, sense of humor.

There are five stories in this book. "What to Expect When Your Boyfriend is Expecting" by Shae Connor, "Spacehunters" by Kage Alan, "B'Utopia" by Kiernan Kelly, "Free Gift with Purchase" by TC Blue and "Pride of the Rangers" by Angela Sparrow. The stories are placed in just the right order. Shae Connor opens the book with a decent and easily understandable science fiction story. Ms. Sparrow ends the book with an erotic little number involving a hint of ageplay, puppy play and sex toy slavery.

The other three stories, specifically "Spacehunters" are off the wall. The dialogue in …

Review: The Mistress

The Mistress by Tiffany Reisz

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ms. Reisz is in a class of her own. Book four in this series is another hard punch to the gut through the reveals of a painful past. This tale is one of sorrow as well as a blazing hot sexual feast. This book picks right up from the cliffhanger in the previous book. Nora is in the hands of a woman bent on revenge. This crazy woman doesn't care about Nora, she just wants those who love Nora to suffer. Specifically, the insane kidnapper wants Søren to pay for his sins.

These alleged sins committed by Søren are open to interpretation. Ms. Reisz does an excellent job with her character development again. This time, she introduces a villain who is vain, selfish - the embodiment of narcissistic. The woman is a scary psychopath and there will be collateral damage. As the villain is exposed to hard facts, the reader is treated to defining moments for Kingsley, Nora and Søren. The reader becomes a riveted voyeur, unable to …

Review: Tear You Apart

Tear You Apart by Megan Hart

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

For all too realistic relationships gone sour, Ms. Hart is the Mistress of painful heartaches and love disintegrated.  This latest contemporary romance once again causes emotional turmoil for both the protagonist and the reader.  Elisabeth is a wife who's children are now almost out of college.  Prior to her returning back to work, she spent her life raising two girls and faithfully performing her duty as a housewife.  She consistently demonstrated her devotion through numerous acts of service.  Greeting her husband at the door when he came home and providing a dinner were all within her language of love.  Unfortunately, her husband took it all for granted and sees her as no more than a servant.

This is a very common scenario in real life.  Ms. Hart shines a harsh light on the realities of a marriage left unattended.  I've known too many friends who's long lasting marriage follows the same path as Elisabeth's.  It al…

Review: Temptation

Temptation by Lee Brazil

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Solomon and Adonis are sexy rich men who are a power couple. Being the third in this sexy partnership is any man's dream. Lake Wynters is the privileged man invited into their lives. This ménage can be so sexy and arousing. Unfortunately, Lake is a constant self-saboteur.

This story is mixed for me. I am a fan of Mr. Brazil. His characters are very real and generally pretty admirable. This is the first time I've read a book where his character is shallow, vain and neurotic. Lake is a model who wears make up and heels. He's not a transvestite. He just tries to keep his looks edgy and loves his modelling job. What does he have going for him? Mr. Brazil paints a rather disappointing portrait of a young hot man who will amount to nothing once his looks fade.

Still, the writing is smooth and tight. The crazy drama queen antics thrown by Lake is amusing. It's like watching a child pitch temper tantrums during Christmas when th…

Review: Disciplinary Measures

Disciplinary Measures by Cara Bristol

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

A loving husband who disciplines his wife with spankings and anal sex, how can this go wrong? It's all about domestic discipline which I adore reading.

Linc Ellison is a successful man who loves his wife Regina. He's not making that much money where they can afford a child if Regina stops working. Honestly, most architects make very little, so this is no surprise. Regina is a juvenile thirty year old with poor impulse control. At thirty, she still can't control her wild spending. It makes the reader wonder if she really wants a baby or just says she does. Because if she really wanted a baby, she wouldn't sabotage her marriage with placing them in financial distress with her frivolous spending every single month.

Here's my issue with Ms. Bristol's fourth story in this series. The formula for domestic discipline hasn't changed too much - in each, the woman is quite flawed with petty juvenile behavi…

Review: Together in Cyn

Together in Cyn by Jennifer Kacey

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Mine is the second review.

Confessing dirty secret fantasies to a diary should be safe. That is, unless the diary is purloined by the object of your desires.

Cyn lusts after her best friends Jared and Chris. She sacrifices finding a real job just to stay near them even if they ignore her lustful flirtation. Finally giving up, she decides to move on. Twins Jared and Chris are afraid of frightening Cyn with their real business, an exclusive high-end BDSM club. When they get their hands on her diary and read her fantasies, it allows them to break through their restraint and go after her.

This is a good start for Ms. Kacey's first book. The sex scenes are hot and nicely set up. With rich men and high-end private club stocked with fetish wear included in the membership dues, this is definitely classified as GlitterKink. The surprise sexual combination is a gratifying f/f scene. Definitely a bratty sub is in residence. If Cyn han…

Review: Uprising

Uprising by Dawn Jayne

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is truly a riveting book. I am mixed about books with Angels in them because I've been brought up with a Christian background. It's very difficult for me to read Angel books because inevitably, the author will use only a slightly bastardized Angel mythology. With the slight changes used, the Angels and storyline becomes too blasphemous for me and I become uncomfortable and hate the book. I guess we are the products of our upbringing and experiences.

There are very few authors who write Angels in a completely different perspective. I can name the authors on one hand which I not only tolerated but also enjoyed. Ms. Jayne is now added to this very small list. The problem with Angel themed books for me, such as Ms. Jayne's story is two folds. It makes me think as well as fear retribution from God for all my sins which I commit frequently on a daily basis despite my best intentions. It does not make me question my fai…

Review: Waking Beauty

Waking Beauty by Nikki Prince

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Sleep Beauty is finally ready for her sexual awakening! A 100 month sexual dry spell is a terrible punishment which causes me to shudder in fear. Aurora is overworked, stressed and in need desperate of an orgasm. Not just any orgasm. This orgasm needs to be at the hands of a man, not from her own stroking. Masturbating is just not cutting it. An explosive orgasm from the hands of a talented male is exactly what the doctor ordered.

This short fairy tale retold is kinky fun. Ms. Prince does a decent job on Aurora and her prince. The sex is erotic and light. The conflict is odd. The conflict while understandable seems to be too easily resolved. In fact, the resolution didn't make much sense to me. I'm not sure what is different this time versus eight years ago. What is it about Felipe which makes Aurora change her mind? How has Felipe proved he will stay true? How is Aurora reassured her fears will not come to f…

Review: Ridin' Red

Ridin' Red by Nikki Prince

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Holy smoking erotic fairy tale retold! RIDIN' RED may imply the famous Little Red Riding Hood, but it is much more than just a little girl eaten by a wolf. In this version, it's a blend of Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood. The title is aptly named with Red being ridden hard and long.

Ms. Prince is a new to me author and this will be the first of many books I will read of hers. Her story is fast-paced, smooth and steaming erotic. Anastasia Trumane aka Red is the younger stepsister of Cinda and she's doing a bit of growing up. Her newfound maturity sets her up to reunite with the Dom who left her. Lucien Wolf slammed the door in her face with no reason a year ago, but now he wants back in her life. This time, Red may not be such a willing submissive.

The clever combination of paranormal werewolves with a ménage into an erotic sizzling story is delightful. The play on Little Red Riding's dialog with the "big bad…

Review: Hers to Command

Hers to Command by Patricia A. Knight

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Force field grid powered by crystals which require sexual energy, where is this planet? Is it possible to check to see if I have the required DNA? I would hope that I do because I'd be happy to go through the seven years of training to be subjected to high magic.  Ms. Knight is a new to me author who I will be following closely. She creates a sexually charged world with a science fiction fantasy background. When my favourite genre of science fiction is mixed with steamy BDSM, I'm completely enthralled.

The plot contains a bit of suspense and good conflict. It's a familiar trope and easy to follow. The characters Ari, Fleur and Doral are engaging and sexy. Their chemistry together is flaming hot and so good to experience.

What really sold me on this book is the erotic sex with amazing edging. I loved the BDSM elements with submission through obedience and orgasm control. Ms. Knight writes smoking hawt m…

Review: Finding Master Right

Finding Master Right by L.A. Witt

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Friends to lovers is so good when it morphs into a beautiful D/s relationship. Chase is a heartbroken Dom attending a leather convention with his good friend Derek. Derek is a masochist who's kink match Chase's perfectly. Why wouldn't they get their kink on together now that they are both single and available? The phrase, "it's complicated" completely describes this relationship.

This is a classic example of how a D/s relationship can go so wrong. Instead of telling us the keys to a D/s relationship are communication and trust, Ms. Witt shows us over and over again in high definition. Absolutely fantastic! There are many a times the reader will want to smack both Derek and Chase upside the head. Or maybe even clunk their heads together to knock a bit of sense into them. Be forewarned, a reader may experience episodes of uncontrollable yelling at the characters when they misunderstand each othe…

Review: Unleashed

Unleashed by Erica Chilson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Holy mind fuck, Batman! This one is definitely one I thoroughly enjoyed. I can definitely see the Flowers in the Attic V.C. Andrews influence on Ms. Chilson. This continuation of Katya's BDSM journey is awesome.

Katya is now in the arms of her lovers. Her daughter is no longer a secret and Katya is learning more about BDSM. She's exploring her Domme side. She's learning how a submissive behaves as well as how to be a good Mistress from Dexter. While this is going on, her rapist, Ray Hunter is let out of prison. Ezra goes off the reservation in protective mode when he finds out.

The BDSM and erotic scenes are smoking hot! I'm aroused by all the rough body play and possessive markings. The biting which involves some blood play is a complete turn on. The sexual tension is some of the best I've ever read. I'm instantly aroused and kept at a heightened state of lust. Ms. Chilson mixes in primal behaviou…

Review: Blackest Nights

Blackest Nights by Cindy Jacks

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Where is this munch where there are a surplus of male Dominants? And what newbie to the munch is left alone without the coordinator shepherding her around? Party foul. Now, I've been to only a few munches both accompanying a coordinator or by myself. Never have I been accosted with the following questions within moments of my arrival.

"Are you here to meet anyone specific?" "Is this really your first munch?" "What kind of play are you interested in?" "Dom, sub or switch?" (p. 5)

This is not to say this couldn't happen at a munch. It would just be very irregular and defeat the purpose of a munch out in public to help ease someone into the lifestyle. Then again, it could be a focused bottom or Top munch where this could happen. I tend to avoid those munches.

Back to the story at hand, a lot of what is portrayed in this story is fantasy make believe. If one were to use th…

Review: Seeing the Edge

Seeing the Edge by Kristiene Gray

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Inheriting a business is awesome when it's an edgy BDSM sex club! Veronica "Vee" is gifted "The Edge" by her favourite relative, Aunt Roni. Aunt Roni leads Vee down the rabbit hole as she's exposed to sex, glorious sex! Where is this club and how do I sign up for membership? How much does it cost? Is it even profitable? How is it possible for it to legally run? Then again it is located in New Orleans, the den of hedonistic depravity.

The plot is simplistic. The characters are so-so. The sex on the other hand is smoking hawt! Ms. Gray pens steamy sex scenes one after another. There is anal, exhibition, fisting, watersports, dub-con m/m anal screwing just to name a few. It's highly arousing and I can recommend this book for some great sexy scenarios. If you want material for your spank bank, this book fits the bill.

I'm not sure if this was originally several smaller stories combine…

Review: The Pleasures of Summer

The Pleasures of Summer by Evie Hunter

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Is this a kinky version of the movie Bodyguard with a Paris Hilton clone and Ewan McGregor type bodyguard? The start of this story seemed to go down this path. Summer O'Sullivan is a worthless spoiled nouveau riche pampered princess. All she does is party in front of the tabloids and bring disgrace to her hard working father. She needs a good spanking. Cue in the reason for why BDSM is thrown into this story. I started to question why I agreed to read this book. Since I did agree to review, I stuck with it, gritting my teeth through the first several chapters.

Fortunately, I made it through the shaky start and really enjoyed this book. Summer's current behaviour comes across as shallow and vain. Author Evie Hunter perfectly captures the rich celebrity party girl and encapsulates it in the young twenty-three year old Summer. Summer is showcased as a completely illogical imbecile. She's already suffere…

Review: Yes, Sir

Yes, Sir by Ellis Carrington

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Overworked and a control freak, Grayson Harper is finally taking a well deserved vacation with his two high school friends. New Orleans is as good a place as any. It's a city of good food and magic. This is, if he believed in Voodoo. Scoffing, he goes at the behest of his friend.

Grayson's fortune telling with a Voodoo priestess (do they even do fortunes?) is not as expected. Immediately afterwards, his nightly dreams are filled with erotic longing with a piercing blue eyed stranger. Each phantom visit cranks up the sexy heat and leaves him with embarrassing nocturnal emissions.

This story is well written and erotic. Ms. Carrington does a good job of building the tension. Her BDSM is light and enjoyable. It's a tiny taste of her talent. This story is a bit too short for me with several threads left hanging. Hope she expands on this story. Recommended for kinky m/m readers.

Review: The Iron Wyrm Affair

The Iron Wyrm Affair by Lilith Saintcrow

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Steampunk, dragons, conspiracies galore! If there is one author I can depend on for amazingly well crafted world building, it would be Ms. Saintcrow. She impresses me again with this Steampunk work.

The words she uses here require quite a bit of contextual learning. I felt my brain chugging along trying to relate new terms and figure out their meanings. The complexity she adds with three different forces trying to overthrow the Empire is quite ambitious. Two of them were very clear and well built. One of them I thought was a bit weaker and felt a bit glossed over. Still, Ms. Saintcrow brought it all together.

The addition of Steampunk kicks it up a notch. Ms. Saintcrow does an excellent job of integrating Steampunk through out the entire book. The machines, way of life, is completely immersed in Steam and Sorcery. It's fabulous. The blending of magic with Steampunk is mind blowing. The three types of mag…

Review: Heart of Obsidian

Heart of Obsidian by Nalini Singh

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Read this book now! Don't wait! This is my favourite book of all the ones in the series. The big reveal is finally here. Is it actually a surprise? It wasn't a surprise to me. I figured out who the mysterious power rebel leader in the psy world was a couple of books ago. It's nice to have it confirmed.

This story is fabulous for me because we learn more about Kaleb's life. It's brutal. So horrific and yet it's amazing he is still functioning at such a high level. His a complex person with motives that make sense when all is revealed. Kaleb is absolutely amazing. He's the deadly weapon and so sexy. Plus he makes the world move when he has sex. How cool is this?

Ms. Singh created engaging and loveable characters. In this one, Kaleb and Sahara are both so damaged. It's moved me to tears as we learned about their youth. The fact that they held on to each other through all the torture…

Review: Rock Your Soul

Rock Your Soul by Sara Brookes

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

For the honor of Grayskull! 80's cartoon fans unite! Who doesn't like She-Ra? In ROCK YOUR SOUL, the nods to some of my favorite cartoons, sci-fi movies, sci-fi shows and video games makes me want to ravish Beth as much as Allison does, too.

In this second installment in the Geek Kink series, Ms. Brookes injects more geeky fun references to balance the somberness of BDSM. Who knew kinky BDSM could be such a downer? Beth Lawson is a recovering abused submissive. Her journey thus far into the BDSM world is fraught with poser dominants greedily seeking pleasure through her bloody pain. Her experiences read closely to warnings and examples to newbie BDSM lifestyles on what not to do.

Truth be told, there are people in the BDSM lifestyle who are there just to be abusive. They hide under the mantle of sadist yet violate all the tenets of a healthy BDSM relationship. These posers are the lowest of the low and unfortunately easily…

Review: The Seduction Hypothesis

The Seduction Hypothesis by Delphine Dryden

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Geekfest meets BDSM in this kinky erotic romance. This is a sweet quirky and amusing romance. The reader is taken on a tour of science-fiction slash comic convention through the eyes of a horny couple discovering BDSM.

Lindsey is still heartbroken over an abrupt breakup with her boyfriend, Ben. She's not exactly sure why Ben dumped her, but she suspects it's because of her newfound interest in BDSM. Lindsey figures out the missing piece in her life when she starts reading a BDSM comic, Balls N' Chains.

This story is above all, cute and pretty dead on for how some couples find themselves speeding forward into the BDSM lifestyle. It's not uncommon for one in the pairing finding this desire and dragging a sometimes unwilling partner into this freaky depraved fun. Lindsey is the aggressor in this scenario. She's actually pretty typical to find nowadays. I'm constantly meeting dissatisfied…
