Yes, My Mistress by Jennifer Cole

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I was expecting more femdom.  This book was a let down on the femdom.  Dani was really a sub playing at being a domme to break a dry spell.  She was tired of not enjoying sex and felt being in control would help.  She took lessons from Troy, a master, on how to be a domme.  This might lead a person to believe she is a switch.  Based on how Ms. Cole wrote Dani, it was not believable to me at all.  Especially from my own experience.  Dani's responses were off compared to being a switch.

There were some holes in the plot and some glossed over answers.  I think this book could have been longer and better developed.  For example:

1. For Nat to immediately spend the night with Max after attending the BDSM Club?  That is a bit of a stretch.

2. The senator's daughter immediately falls into a threesome w/ 2 m/m within hours of meeting her?

3. The allegations the senator who opposes the club also goes there incognito?

Xmas Spark by Delphine Dryden

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This short and sweet book was purchased just so I could complete a book challenge.  I wasn't expecting too much.  I understand why the book is titled, Xmas Spark, but it really should be FLAME.  This is the first story I've read with the violet wand in it.  Now I want a violet wand set.  HOT!  Jack was a dominant man who I would love to submit to.  I thoroughly enjoyed this short story and would recommend it to my friends for a great quick read.  Be careful, you might start researching for violet wand kits after reading this book.  I did.

Book Challenges

Now that I've been on Goodreads for almost 4 months, I've started to participate in book challenges. The first one I completed was the Forbidden Bookshelf erotic reading challenge.  I completed this March 20, 2011.  I picked the scorching challenge.

I did a mini menage in March, but it wasn't exactly right so I decided not to include it.

The next one I picked is the BDSM Gang Bang Book Challenge for Q2, 2011.  It's been very confusing, trying to understand how it works.  I finally understand and think I need to work on a process flow for people.  The entire group was confused.  I created a tracking spreadsheet for everyone.  I dreamt about a formula to determine who finishes and who's picks were most completed.

The final challenge I'm picking for April is the Erotic Goodreads Titles A-Z 2011.  I have almost everything read already!  There are 5 more books I need.  Q, V, X, Y and Z.  I have the books picked out.  Now I just have to read them.
She's in Control by Skyler Smith

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is the first I've read of author Skyler Smith.  This was an ARC given to me via one of the groups I'm in.  I have to say I have mixed feelings about this book.  There are three separate short stories and each generated different feelings.

First, I'd like to say, I enjoyed the femdom aspect quite a bit.  I don't come across many femdom with F/M.  I would like to read more of this type of story.  I'm going to break down what I liked of each story and what I would have liked to see different.

Cougar 2.5 stars

This one didn't do it for me because I didn't like how Jackie came into her wealth.  It seemed so mercenary.  I'm not sure what I would have really done differently because it did explain her motivation.

The sex was good.  I liked what Jackie set up for her household, a good fantasy.

Taking Control 3.5 stars

This was my favourite one.  Sarah's business was pretty hot.  I loved everyt…
Topping From Below by Laura Reese

My rating: 1 of 5 stars

This was one of the books in my GR's book of the month in March 2011.  I read this and honestly, it shows a bad side of BDSM that I'm not thrilled all.  It comes across as those in the BDSM are callous sociopaths who can easily kill a person w/o a problem.  It perverts and twists a lifestyle into a horrible lie.  I'm very disappointed in this book and don't recommend it to anyone.

I would like to point out, Ms. Reese possesses an excellent writing style.  She also wrote a very good mystery story.  As a writer, this book would receive great reviews.  She is an excellent story teller and her sex scenes would have been fine, had she not twisted it up with a murderer.

I feel dirty after reading this book.  Ms. Reese takes the BDSM lifestyle and perverts it into a demonic sadistic sham for Vanilla people to nod their heads and say, "I KNEW these people were mentally ill.  Look at this.  This is so wr…
