Review: Steam-Driven Seduction

Steam-Driven Seduction by Corinne Davies

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Is this the taming of the shrew? Kassandra is no red haired vixen. She is a raven black haired runaway wife. Her husband Julian Kincade finally gave up on chasing her after a few months. Two years later, he's back and he wants Kassandra to return.

Julian is a dream. He's sexy, dangerous and he owns a vessel named Atlantis which is usually underwater. And he's a Dominant who knows how to wield a whip. Why in heavens does Kassandra-call-me-"Kass" run from him? Because she is STUPID. Yes, she is. She eavesdrops on a scene, misunderstands and rather than communicate like a rational human being, she flees. Talk about lack of trust and faith in her husband. Julian is too good to her. He should have pulled her back in chains and tan her ass raw.

Kass's inability to communicate effectively aside, she's now an independent woman who works with the rebels to free slaves. She's grown a lot in two ye…

April 2013 recommendations

I have several books I read in the past month I really enjoyed. These are my five and four stars. I don't usually rate 5 stars. These books moved me and I hope you enjoy them too.

Romantic BDSM Maledom

Tasting Pleasure (Pleasure, #1) by Marie Haynes is a slice of heaven. Even though there is some pretty rough BDSM scenes in here, the characters and journey is a completely fairy tale perfection. This is the unattainable balance of D/s and it's just so lovely to read. For those who want to read real BDSM scenes in a romantic novel, this one is for you. my review

Best Bondage Erotica 2013 by Rachel Kramer Bussel is an excellent compilation of steamy hot bondage. I've found a few new authors I really enjoy in here and I can't wait to find more by them. my review

M/m Space Opera

Dark Space by Lisa Henry is delicious. Yes, yes, I'm a fan of Ms. Henry. Her writing really appeals to me. From the first few sentences, I'm hooked in and…

Review: Distress Signal

Distress Signal by Mychael Black

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A daring Dom Marine and a sexy submissive scientist send this science fiction story out into orbit. Dr. Ash Mracek is an anomaly in this universe. Yet, he's the only one who may be able to help save the military Syndicate run worlds from Revenants. This story is Joss Whedon's Serenity combined with Stargate Atlantis and then adds a D/s M/m twist. And oh is this added kink luscious!

The Revenants are wraith-like aliens bent on slaughter and pillaging. They exist in some kind of "dark space" which keeps them safe from the rest of the universe. Ash is close to determining how the Revenants survive in this "dark space". Captain Carter Therres is the one who goes to rescue Ash when Ash's ship is attacked by Revenants.

This is just the beginning of the world building and it is right up my alley. There are different types of aliens, conspiracies, an underdog theme and best of all – Domination and submiss…

Review: Best Women's Erotica 2013

Best Women's Erotica 2013 by Violet Blue

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ready for some smoking hawt erotica? Best Women's Erotica 2013 is the book to read. This sampling of eighteen steaming short stories will cause some pussy wetting and cock dripping. My two favourites in this collection are The Spanking Salon by Elizabeth Coldwell and Being his Bitch by Janine Ashbless. In The Spanking Salon, the reader is treated to a deliciously fun story of mistaken identities which leads to spankings. What's not to love about being spanked for being naughty? In Being his Bitch, it's a delightful puppy play piece including a hawt public breeding scene.

Ms. Blue is known for her sexual prowess. She's also a safe bet when it comes to providing erotic literature to read and enjoy a bit of "me time". This selection of erotica writers provide all sorts of fetishes and kinks for a novice erotic reader to taste and explore. Each of the stories are smoothly written with m…

Review: Betrayed By Desire

Betrayed By Desire by E.S. Tilton

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Seven races, a prophecy, an errant god and a dark force bent on corruption. What isn't in this book? The story begins with six prologues. The reader immediately learns about a menacing villain trying to obliterate the god Kyron's existence. The prologues hop around and give a bit of a frame work, but it's confusing. The story finally begins with Kyra the assassin. She is completing one final job before she retires from the Red Pelican assassin's guild. Her contact is Tahrek, another assassin.

This story is disjointed. The story goes off on tangents side stories and then suddenly plops the reader back into the main storyline. While these little detours provide good back history and world building, it's cobbled together in a rather clumsy manner. The story is definitely non linear nor is it a multi-thread weaving into a cohesive pattern. It resembles a puzzle where the pieces are forced together w…

Review: Mutual Release

Mutual Release by Liz Crowe

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When many books are left with cliffhangers or switching to serial format, it's a satisfying treat to read a complete novel. Mutual Release by Ms. Crowe is a complete three part story detailing the lives of Evan Adams and Julie Dawson. Full disclosure, this book was sent to me by the publisher for a review. I was hesitant and asked the publisher to look at my two reviews I've written for Ms. Crowe before deciding to send me the book to read. After my warning, the ARC showed up in my inbox.

This is a story of two very messed up people coming together into a toxic relationship. Honestly, I think in a few years after this marriage, I'm seeing a crime of passion in the form of War of the Roses style. Evan and Julie will be the death of each other, literally. Let's start with Evan first. It is refreshing to read from a male's point of view. Evan is lured to the dark side of BDSM through a foster brother. Ev…

Review: Hold My Hand

Hold My Hand by Paloma Beck

My rating: 2.5 of 5 stars

Millionaire kinky men looking for the innocent poor young female seems to be the trend right now. In Holding my Hand, William is the rich male seeking the destitute little girl Aubrey. It is never clear as to how William makes his money. Somehow he is a philanthropist who helps build communities in nations needing assistance. While this at the surface seems romantically heroic, my cynical mind reads it as human trafficking for wealthy drug lords. Aubrey is the victim mentality female who is all too common. She has Daddy issues and a poor self image. Not my favourite type of female lead. This is a 2.5 star for me. It is a bit better than okay, but I can't say I truly enjoyed it.

I am mixed on this story. Ms. Beck shows potential with her writing voice. Her story can be captivating. What brings it down for me are her characters and perhaps lack of research into BDSM. This tale is light BDSM perhaps even SugarKink. It…

Review: Immortal Symphony #1: Overture

Immortal Symphony #1: Overture by S.L. Armstrong

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Never want to grow old? Eternal youth is not all it's cracked up to be. The infamous Dorian Gray is apparently still alive and well. His portrait on the other hand is aging and rotting away. This is a reinterpretation of the Dorian mythos and it's much more my alley than the original.

S.L. Armstrong and K. Piet kick off the beginning of a new serial story. This one is featuring the ever immortally young Dorian Gray and his sexual proclivities. The very first scene is a searing hot voyeuristic ménage worthy of any hedonistic fiend. The first in this Immortal Symphony is written at an allegro pace. Not only is this first movement played in allegro, but it is also in forte. The BDSM harmony is a delightful pairing and music to my ears. If musical comparisons are to continue, what would Dorian Gray be? Would he be the conductor? Or is he part of the percussion section, banging out the tempo for all to follow?…

Review: The Gravedigger's Brawl

The Gravedigger's Brawl by Abigail Roux

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"If there's somethin' strange in your neighborhood. Who ya gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS!" That phrase keeps running through my mind as I read this book. I'm not a fan of ghost stories so I'm not exactly sure why I picked this one up. I think I was blinded by the fact that it is written by Ms. Roux. In THE GRAVEDIGGER'S BRAWL, there are ghosts, goth, gaslights and vibrating tongue rings.

Wyatt Case is a curator at a failing museum. His fellow co-worker, Noah, sets him up with the sexy bartender, Ash Lucroix. After a couple of missteps, these sexy guys finally become an item. The conflict in this story comes through a malevolent ghost. As the violence escalates, both Wyatt and Ash are in danger.

Ms. Roux does an amazing job in this book. This is a contemporary romance with plausible paranormal developments. It's clear she spent quite a bit of time researching for this book. The facts in her…

Review: A Riding Crop for Two

A Riding Crop for Two by Karyn Gerrard

My rating: 2.5 of 5 stars

Mistress Birch and Lord Craven are in a whirlwind romance. The first installment brought these two together. The second one, they are now together and there seems to be a bit of regret on both sides. Why is it that they acted so fast? Is there now buyer's remorse from the wealthy Lord?

The writing voice and style is fine. The world building is expected for a historical romance between an aristocrat and a peon. With a short story like this, a predictable conflict which resolves easily despite misunderstandings is expected. Ms. Gerrard leaves no loose ends flapping in this story. The characters are a bit underdeveloped but this is only because the story is a bit short. There wasn't enough time for them to truly grow. It almost felt like speed dating - how quickly they came together.

The reason why the sting rating is a two is because it's just barely kinky. With a title including a riding crop, one w…

Review: Lethal Obsession

Lethal Obsession by Shandra Miller

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a very good read from a new to me author. If you liked Lady Heather from NCIS, there is a character in here which will make you happy. Angela is a cop and her personal life is now blurring with her work.

This story has it all, character development, plot, suspense, BDSM scenes and a mystery to solve! This tale kept me thinking. I tried to guess the end. I did get it right, but it ends in a cliffhanger which makes me want to validate my theory. Gah! The BDSM scenes are pretty hot. The implied F/f is something I wish would be expanded.

I liked Angela. She's a strong woman who's lost her way. She has personal desires and she explores it in a crazy unsafe manner. Frankly, for a cop I'm a bit surprised at her naivety and risk taking. The characters in this book are for the most part, not completely bad or good. There were two that really drove me crazy. Kanesha is a beyotch. I have a theory as…

Review: Killer Thoughts

Killer Thoughts by Marie Harte

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Enjoy a series going out with a smexy bang? This is the book for you. KILLER THOUGHTS is the final installment of the Power Up! series. The reader finally meets the enigmatic and wealthy Owen Stallbridge. He's the silent partner of Jack's Power Up! Gym. He's also quite heteroflexible. Yes, he swings both ways and his current and perhaps last swing is towards Ian Ryder.

Oh, there are so many comments and none of them nice with a last name like Ryder. Ian is a con artist. He's probably best categorized as a white collar criminal with a little extra paranormal oomph. Fans of actor Matt Bomer playing con artist Neal Caffrey on White Collar will love Ian. In fact, since Matt Bomer is gay in real life, I can totally see him playing Ian.

It isn't just the reader fantasizing about a naked Ian; Owen also spends a good amount of time focused on Ian's juicy ass. The BDSM in this story is trademark Ms. Harte. It is hot…

Review: Entranced

Entranced by Marie Harte

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It's bloody Brigadoon! For those who don't know about Brigadoon, it's a magical village in the middle of a Scottish forest which appears once every hundred years. In ENTRANCED, Jack is searching high and low for Heather. He finally finds her when he stumbles into some Bavarian town which appeared out of nowhere in some forested mountain area of Germany.

Finally Jack is featured in a book. Jack runs the psychic covert group hiding behind the PowerUp! gym. Jack originally came from the Dawn Endeavor series where he experienced a betrayal by his female partner that completely screwed up his mind. This makes it easy to understand his avoidance of female partners both professionally and personally. Heather is his latest assignment. His buddy and financial backer, Owen, asks Jack to locate his missing sister, fearing the worst. Heather is the younger sibling determined to prove her worth and wants to contribute something meaningfu…

Review: In The Dark II

In The Dark II by Michael Alexander

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ready for some BDSM dim sum? This anthology gives a little taste of all sorts of delectable perversity. I am a fan of Mr. Alexander since I first followed him on the BDSM library. I traced him from there over to his website and eagerly read free tidbits he'd release. One could say I'm a bit of a fangirl so my review is going to be a bit bias...

The book starts out with a bloody thrust and I'm kind of confused. In The Hunter it's a short and gory appetizer. I was expecting sexy dark non con only to have it flipped. Fortunately, the very next story caused me to squee in delight. I'm adore tentacle sex - the more non-con, the better. In Abduction my lust for sexual violation is appeased. It's a medium intensity but on so good. If only there was a little bit more humiliation. Dana's violation is depraved and delicious. Love the sci-fi factor of it.

When I read The Invitation, it reminded m…

Review: Out of Bight, Out of Mind

Out of Bight, Out of Mind by Tymber Dalton

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Is this the end of the Deep Space Mission Corps Series? I certainly hope not. According to Ms. Dalton, there are more planned. Now we can all celebrate! This latest installment, OUT OF BIGHT, OUT OF MIND is incredible. This fourth book captures the reader's emotion and takes us for a wild rollercoaster ride. For those who have not read the first three in this series, it is best to read them in order. There are references to the other stories which will enhance a reader's enjoyment.

In this one, Emi and her three husbands are back. Aaron, Caph and Ford are just as doting and loving in the previous three stories. Emi takes the lead again as the one facing extreme hardship. As a high level trained empath, she can sense people's intent and feelings. This also applies to other life forms. Kayehalau is a nonhuman who needs to catch a ride on the Tamora Bight. On paper, Kayehalau is a highly decorated scientist wi…

Monthly Recommendations

I've been remiss.  It has come to my attention that the recommendations I post every month in the BDSM group is not seen by all.  (What, you aren't in the BDSM group???)  I'm going to try to remember to cross post going forward.  Here are my recommendations year to date, including April.

January 2013
Is it already a new year? How did this happen? The past month of reads have been surprisingly good for me. I've rated more 4 stars in this past month than I can remember.

5 Star Contemporary Book

Safeword Quinacridone by Candace Blevins is the only 5 star book from me in the past month. This book is amazing for me because I LOVE objectification as a fantasy fetish. Totally hot. My Review

Non Con Interrogation
Hunted by Zeke Connor is an old book. It was written in 2008. I don't know WHY I waited so long to read this one. The interrogation was a bit brutal at times in the beatings. The restrained sexual violation is delicious! My Review
