Review: Wood Be Magic

Wood Be Magic Wood Be Magic by Zenina Masters
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This series keeps delivering fantastic happily ever afters. Wood Be Magic is one I really enjoyed. The magic users have been pretty quiet through all these changes to the world of mating at Crossroads. This is the first one to feature one of the mages. Melwiss is a very magically little girl who blossomed into a powerful witch. This story just barely goes into her history and glosses over her past. I would have loved to read more about her and more of what she can do. Still, this isn't a coming of age story. This is a story focused on mating and find the one who rocks your world. For Melwiss, it is Andy... a beaver shifter.

I liked Andy when he first appeared a few books back. I didn't think he would get his own book so it's nice to see him feature here. This romance is a bit different in the sense that Melwiss and Andy already know each other. They are attracted but under the decree from the mage guild, Melwiss is not allowed to mate due to deadly powers. So when this ban is lifted, they can finally take that first step. Or is it the first step?

As the story unfolds, it is clear that this isn't some magic instalove. Andy has been a dedicated admirer who has protected, watched out for and provided for Melwiss. Whether she recognizes it or not. Andy is a sweetheart and the definition of a helpmate. He truly loves Melwiss and it shows in all his actions. I adored him. Melwiss is so easy to love and care for. She's a precocious little kid and a thoughtful adult. Who wouldn't want to be friends with both these people? They make the world a better place. This paranormal romance is recommended to readers who like to be reminded of what people can do when they come together.
