Review: Nuts
Nuts by S.E. Jakes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Turn on the fan as SE Jakes cranks up the heat between two best friends turning into lovers. Jagger's family is in the business of "fixing" things for organized crime. If we look at the work Jagger's father actually performs for his company, it is not too different than private own companies. Due to several socio-economical and political reasons, Jagger's family is on the "wrong side" of the law. Yet in this romanticized world, Jagger's family is the one with ethics, loyalty, honour and a value to family. This is revealed with each memory Preston and Jagger share of their childhood together.
Reading about how parents can abuse their child, it makes me sick and angry. The constant humiliation, degradation and abuse heaped upon Preston is horrible and unacceptable. That cops and those in authority not only turn a blind eye but add to it, makes me incensed. The only reason why Preston survives is because of his friendship with Jagger. What Preston should have had with his family - love, comfort and protection only comes with the family chosen by his heart - Jagger's family.
What Preston doesn't know is that this is not the first time Jagger's family has tangled with Preston's father. When that secret is finally revealed, it all makes a terrible sick sense. As Preston is constantly persecuted by his parents, he's grappling with his newly found attraction to Jagger. Preston isn't gay yet he fantasizes about Jagger. The yearning for Jagger and vice versa adds to the sexual tension.
The BDSM club which is exclusive (hence the glitterkink categorization) is where Preston finally makes a move on his feelings. The kinky scenes in this story are delicious. From the Domme flogging Preston to Jagger topping Preston, it is explosive. SE Jakes does a fabulous job arousing the senses.
This story is more than worthless parents and best friends turning into lovers. It is about redemption, righting wrongs and growing up. This m/m erotica is recommended to kinky romance readers who love their happily ever afters.
