Happy New Year!  2020 already, where has the time gone?  I'm kicking off the new year with a fantastic read.  Check it out!

Vampire Master by Joey W. Hill
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This series is still going strong. Sixteen books in, the erotic tension is still as sexy as the first. For those who have never read this series, this can be read as a standalone. Fair warning, if this is your first book in the series, the desire to go back and buy every book starting from the first will be high.

In this latest Vampire story, we encounter Wolf. Wolf is a relatively younger vampire, less than 100 years. He's also a dominant. Seriously, a sexual dominant vampire is redundant. All vampires are dominant. Yes, yes, there are exceptions to the rule, but still, Wolf is an uber dominant who brings out the desires from every submissive that crosses his path. He is a mysterious dominant in a BDSM club that humans don't all know it is vampire own. He easily tops both women and men. For me, if feels like Wolf is just trying to get through his life. He is stuck in a rut and just going through the motions. The reason for it are heartbreaking as we learn about how he came to become a vampire and what happened to his family. In some ways, it feels as if Wolf has locked himself in a type of purgatory that he does constant penance for. His penance is to help other soldiers returning from war with PTSD.

When Ella enters into his life, it sparks a change. A change he isn't exactly welcoming yet it starts many gears to start moving and the reader needs to hang on for the ride. This sensual dance between Ella and Wolf is filled with yearning and deferred gratification - my favourite kind. The kinky scenes are hot and a submissive's fantasy.

What I enjoyed was learning about Ella and her kinks. Her ability to be what each dominant wants and her wide range of kinks is illuminating and attractive. Ms. Hill does an amazing job of tantalizing readers with various forms of kink. Showcasing how Ella enjoys it as well as how the dominants respond and view Ella, the submissive. Ella seems almost too perfect. She is like Wolf in some ways because she too has a heartbreaking past. What is interesting is how Ella deals with it. She rises above it in a way that is so hard to do. She forgives herself and moves on.

This story is more than just a mating dance between a dominant and a submissive. Vampire politics kicks in and this is when the story takes a darker turn. Vampires are predators when they are on the hunt, it is exciting to witness. Vampires from previous books make guest appearances to help with the hunt. When humans get caught in the cross fire, bad things can happen. Ella makes a couple of critical mistakes and this forces Wolf to take some actions he would rather not have to do. The punishments are harsh yet written so erotically appealing.

The pace of this book moves at a clip and there is so much to it. Half way through the book so many things have happened. And yet that is when the plot twist occurs and the hunting begins. From that point on, the pace increases and ends in a delicious showdown. There are a few threads left hanging which hooks a reader in and eagerly anticipate the next book in the series.

What I loved most about this book is the erotic power exchange between Ella and Wolf. It is a give and take that seems so smooth. Their character development is nicely layered to give them dimension and depth. I fell in love with both characters, not just because they are amazing, but because they are what made the story magical. Ms. Hill does another excellent job at bringing an erotic fantasy to life. This book is highly recommended to vampire lovers who enjoy the darker sides to kink.

Big and bad enough to be any girl’s nightmare—or her best dream ever…

Beyond your grasp. Those are the three words that come to mind, every time Ella sees Wolf at Club Atlantis. He earns the term Master, in and out of scene, yet there is something deeper and darker about him. She wants to dive into that abyss.

Wolf sees the yearning. But the submissive he ultimately claims will become his servant, soul-bound to him for all eternity. Ella is a natural submissive, with an endless desire to please. She’s perfect for the role, really. Except Ella is a gift he doesn’t deserve.

However, vampires are wired one way—to take what they want, no matter what their conscience tells them. Even Wolf isn’t strong enough to resist his nature…or the salvation Ella’s love offers.
