Pleasantly sweet and thoughtful, this domestic discipline story contains many elements I adore.  Ms. Marks is a new to me author and I want to read more of her books.  Chance of Redemption is her 5th book in the Chances of Discipline series.  This can be read as a standalone.

The main character, Molly made ill-advised choices in her youth which led to an incarceration.  At first glance, this set up is not how I want to mix with domestic discipline.  Ms. Mark quickly changes my mind within the first chapter.  What I liked about this story is how Molly's journey towards a better life is supported by the prison system.  So many times we read about how once in jail a person is a criminal for life.  People tend to forget that jail is supposed to be paying for the crime and once out of jail, the punishment is over.  The person can start anew.

This concept is similar in vein to domestic discipline.  Correction and punishment wipes the slate clean for the submissive to move on.  Past infractions are not to be used against the submissive and punish them again and again for it.  Just as it should be for those who have paid their time in jail.

Molly truly wants to change and stay away from drugs and alcohol.  There are several obstacles in her way.  Fortunately for her, the system worked.  The counselor and social workers all help to keep her on the path.  I also liked how the prison system where Molly went to, gave her an opportunity to learn and have skills so that she could get a job out of prison.  So many former convicts struggle with finding a job on the outside that it makes turning back to the life a crime that much easier.  Which we as a society have failed at providing a good way to integrate them back in.  I digress.

Molly is a person who need to be held accountable.  I have met people like this and it is not a bad thing.  Or is it a weakness or a lack of maturity.  When the right person is there to counterbalance, it is a partnership made in heaven.  For Molly, this is Max.  Max who she's had a relationship with before and ended poorly.  This second time around, older, wiser and more understanding, they may have a chance together.

The dynamic of domestic discipline for two people new to the concept is nice to see.  Both Molly and Max learn more about it and they have good and bad days.  I liked how the romance shows a steady growth with minor set backs and plausible miscommunications.  I was expecting a quick and happily ever after.  Not so.  The ending leaves a reader questioning what will happen in the future.  Nothing is set in stone, but it looks like the two lovers have a good start and are building a loving foundation.  This contemporary romance is recommended to domestic discipline fans who love second chance tropes.
