Best Women's Erotica of the Year, Volume 6 by Rachel Kramer Bussel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I eagerly look forward to reading this collection of erotica every year. Every year, I find a new author I like and sometimes I reminisce upon an author I have read before and I remember why I liked them so much.
This latest volume is another sensory delight with different variations of sensual pairings and groupings. I enjoyed most of them and want to point out 4 that caught my attention and I would enjoy more of from these authors.
Spring Fling by Kyra Valentine
New to me author brings a tale that usually would cause me heartburn. A couple are having an affair... they are cheating on their spouses, but somehow, the way this is written, that fact is completely irrelevant. Instead, I am intrigued with Jennie and Ewan's relationship as they take it to the next level, with another woman, Meghan.
This ménage is taboo, illicit all the forbidden fruits rolled up into a delicious dish. I enjoy this threesome more than I thought I would. Ms. Valentine writes in an appealing manner and this story is erotica personified. At least for me, it is arousing and "me-time" worthy. It is a fantasy that many people have which is carefully captured on paper. I look forward to seeing more of Ms. Valentine's work.
Meat Cute by Jane Bauer
This one completely surprises me and catches me off guard. Specifically because the main character, Mattie Hollaran is one of those vegetarians who are holier than thou. I cannot stand this kind of person. Her irritating attitude aside, the out of body experience described when Mattie first encounters eating meat is unabashedly wanton. I love it. Ms. Bauer takes the epicurean experience to new levels when introducing a virgin to the delectable pleasures of meat. The metaphors in this story really tickle me pink and I love it. This is food porn taken to another state of existence. Reminds me of the movie Tampopo. Nicely done!
Adult Time by Jeanette Grey
Another surprise erotica which is both an affirmation and turn on. So often, when children are born, lovers turn into parents and forget about how they became parents. Ms. Grey pens a "what-if" scenario that is both sweet and sexy. I love how Ming and Drew reconnect and Ming wonders how she ever forgot about the panty moistening times her husband Drew can easily cause. Their torrid almost exhibitionist interlude is hot if a bit unhygienic. (I am a germaphobe. Sex in a public bathroom is a hard no for me.) Still, the passion this couple reignites should encourage all couples who have children and think sex is off the menu.
The Escape Room by Elizabeth SaFleur
This one is kinky and cute. The puzzles that Ava are given by her husband are a slightly nonsensical but it is a bit of fun roleplaying. The funishment and deferred gratification are always a winner for me to read about. What this gift ends up being at the end is what makes the story so sweet. It may be Ava's husband's birthday yet he gives her the gift she's been desperately longing for. Nicely done!
This erotica volume 6 is a delight to read and recommended for reading in private. Reading it on a plane or any public place could cause some embarrassment, unless the reader is an exhibitionist.
