Review: Deadly Retaliation

Deadly Retaliation Deadly Retaliation by C.P. Mandara
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I read the second book before I read this book and boy was I confused.  Ms. Mandara tends to have characters with multiple names.  This is because they are covert agents or... criminals so they tend to have multiple identities.  I highly recommend reading this series in the order it was written.  Start with this book before reading the following ones.

In this one, Adrien aka Adie is back! He is angry and out for revenge. He has one goal... to win back the woman that clearly belongs to him.  Along the way, there are non-con sexy shenanigans, kidnapping and HR violations galore.

It is hard to categorize this book because even though there are covert agents and assassins, the plot is primarily revolving around Adie's sex drive.  When it comes to sexual torture, Adie is a pro.  I am not sure how Ms. Mandara comes up with her sexual torments ... it is clear that edging and orgasm denial are popular.  Having read several of her books, she comes up with multiple ways to drive a woman out of her mind.  This seems to be interesting until the downside becomes apparent.  The blackmailing and humiliation whilst interesting to read, is just not my cup of tea.  This plot device tends to throw cold water on my arousal immediately.  Basically a major boner killer.

When it comes to being underhanded and nasty, Adie excels at this, even if he is supposedly a reformed man.  After reading about Adie's motives and his plans, the book ends a clear indication of a train wreck.  Between Mel in Adie's hands and James' promise to Mel, I am not sure how this is all going to turn out.  Doesn't look to be a happily ever after on the horizon.

This dark erotica is recommended to readers who enjoy jealous males who are depraved and deviant.
