Review: Dignity

Dignity Dignity by Lesli Richardson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After ripping through the Governor Trilogy and loving it, I had to check out this spin-off series.  Boy is it delightful.  This book features Kevin Markos who was a bad guy in the previous series.  But as they say, every story has two sides.  In her fictional works, Ms. Richardson definitely shows both sides and is less political.  Which is ironic because this is a story involving politics.  This book can be read as a standalone.  It is better to read the Governor trilogy first to receive the full effect.

This book is a tale of reuniting, of coming to terms with one's sexuality and redemption.  I loved this book so much because Kevin is a complicated character who had a meltdown due to many different variables.  When his past catches up to him in the sexy head of security detail, Special Agent Bruunt, the story gets really interesting.  The BDSM relationship with these three is so good.  When it comes to writing kinky relationships with open communication and understanding, Ms. Richardson is one of the best.  She humanizes the people and she represents the BDSM lifestyle in positive ways.  Sometimes she likes to really trash the Vanillas ... but that is her bias.  In this one, there is less trashing of the Vanillas and more focus on how to get Kevin into a healthy mind frame.  And more specifically how to integrate him into a power couple.

ShaeLynn and Christopher are definitely the right match for Kevin.  Even when it looks like a complete train wreck, it isn't because they have a plan and they are able to turn it all around for Kevin.  I like how it shows that one bad day at work in the current society of cancel culture and mob mentality lynching, there are still those who look to see the good in people and give a person another chance.  Kevin needed that second chance and he grasps it tightly for fear of losing this sublime erotic power exchange.

This is ultimately a feel good book which hooks a reader into reading the second book in the series.  Right after this book, I dive into the next one.  This kinky romance is recommended to menage readers who like two dominants taking on a sweet submissive.
