Golden Chaos by Colette Rhodes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Erotic, moving and plot driven, the sequel to Gilded Mess is delightful.  Eagerly anticipating this book, when it finally fell into my grabby hands, I devoured it.  The book is everything I hoped and more.  Ms. Rhodes is a fantastic writer who shows the pros and cons of exploring a multiple partner relationship.

Golden Chaos starts up right where Gilded Mess leaves off.  Ria is back in New York with her parents.  Disgusted with her brothers's lack of support against dickhead Darren and broken hearted over her 3 bears, she sulks in bed.  When circumstances bring Eli, Seth and Noah to New York, Ria's world is once again turned upside down.  This time in a very good way.

What I love most about this story is the different dynamic each brother has with Ria.  Their lack of jealousy between the three of them is what makes this relationship work.  In addition, Ria isn't trying to come between the three brothers.  She wants them to still be brothers and love each other.  Ria's mature attitude about relationships is a breath of fresh air.  Whilst she may not know exactly what she is going to do with her life, she at least is well adjusted and can have a grown up relationship.

The humour in this story is fantastic.  I loved the playfulness between Ria and a reluctant Noah.  Calling him Daddy Bear is adorable. I love Ria's father's reaction when he hears Ria call Noah, "Daddy Bear".  Get your mind out of the gutter.  It has nothing to do with "kink" and everything to do with the Goldilocks and the Three bears.  *snort* Right...  Still, kinky Seth is sexy with his BDSM lite scenes with Ria.  Eli is just an adorable baby bear.  He's the youngest one and just such a cuddly teddy bear.

This story is more than just an erotic sexfest. There is a plot with Ria's character growth.  Resolving Darren's stalker behaviour is a treat.  Revealing the past and coming to terms with it for the three brothers is cathartic even if it is painfully brutal.  I love how Ms. Rhodes blends all these subplots into a cohesive alternative lifestyle love story.  It is beautifully done and I want to read all her other books.  This erotic romance is highly recommended to readers who enjoy paranormal faery-tales retold.
