Review: Rebound Remedy

Rebound Remedy Rebound Remedy by Christine d'Abo
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When it comes to feel good sweet erotica, Ms. d'Abo does it so well.  In this holiday themed erotica, the story starts of with heartbreak and ends with a mended heart.  From the very first few pages, Ms. d'Abo hits the reader hard with a romantic proposal of undying love... too bad this was not for Cole.

Cole knows better than to be the "rebound" guy.  For serial daters, there is a reason why it is "serial".  There is never a break to find and reset oneself, so to speak.  For Cole, he tends to keep dating ones that have experienced a bad break up.  Then he's there to "fix" and put them back together.  Is it surprising that he gets tossed aside when his lover "finds" themselves?  Not really.

Whilst I felt bad for Cole at how he was dumped, I didn't have much sympathy.  As more of the story unfolds, all the warning signs were there.  Cole just chose to ignore them.  So what does he do?  He finds his own rebound booty in the body of sexy bartender, Owen McGregor.  I love this name.  Owen is also described as a super McHottie.  The fact that he is bisexual makes him even more attractive.

The romance is a made for TV Hallmark Christmas movie.  It is that sweet and adorable.  Cole is a better person when he is with Owen.  Owen comes with his own baggage which is never fully resolved in this novella.  The interactions between Owen and Cole are cute at times and frustrating in other times.  Frustrating because Cole is giving mixed messages and unable to communicate his fears and pet peeves.  At least Owen can tell something went wrong and asks Cole to clarify.  Cole pulls the immature cold shoulder which makes me like him a little less.  Cole wonders if he may be the problem.  The answer is a resounding YES.  It does take two way communication in order for a relationship to work.  Cole is either giving like crazy or taking like crazy.  There doesn't seem to be a balance for him.

The sexual interludes between Cole and Owen are hawt and expected in a new found relationship between two gorgeous men.  The slight possible public exposure just makes the sex even hotter.  This romance is recommended to m/m lovers who enjoy Christmas themes with a happily ever after.
