Review: The Velvet Caress

The Velvet Caress The Velvet Caress by C.P. Mandara
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

Brimming with various erotic kinks, this is yet another great book for the international month celebration for masturbation.  When it comes to super hawt naughty erotic fantasies, Ms. Mandara consistently delivers.  This book should not be read as a standalone.  It also should definitely not be read in public.  This book is arousing and may cause a desperate need for "me-time".

The second book in Velvet lies picks up where the first book left off.  Mark and Jen are still stubborn and facing off.  They both have something to lose and it looks like for Mark to win, Jen needs to lose and agree to a divorce.  If Jen agrees to a divorce, her life becomes hell.  Honestly,  her step-dad is an asshole.  Why she doesn't have him killed off baffles me.  I'd have offed him years ago.

With a catastrophic event, Mark realizes that perhaps he needs to re-examine his feelings for Jen.  His guilt leads him down a dark path of self incrimination and the need for atonement.  Not sure I would pick the way he goes about trying to clear his conscience, but it certainly is harsh and oddly erotic.  For those who do not like seeing dominants go under sexual torment, this book may not be for you. For those who love a bit of anal play and... marbles, this is explosively hawt Ã  la Anne Rice style in the Beauty Trilogy.  One of my fondest erotic scenes deals with marbles and its applications.  Ms. Mandara does a delightful job creating a deliciously depraved variation.

This story is less about sex and more about trying to figure out what is going on between Jen and Mark.  When a couple of the secrets come out, Jen and Mark are finally able to communication by using words.  This brings them to still a few questions that are unanswered that neither know how to find the answers.  At least now, they have a heavy hitter backing them to help Jen with her step father.  This book does end in hook to pull the reader into the next book.  This erotic novel is recommended to kinky readers who like drama and grand gestures.
