Review: Violent Retaliation

Violent Retaliation Violent Retaliation by C.P. Mandara
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

What is wrong with Adie?  Other than the fact that his childhood was a complete train wreck and he was horribly abused.  Adie is at time psychotic, impulsive and selfish. I am not sure I understand how Adie can be on his a game and yet with Leader, he is completely a klutz.  This makes no sense to me.  It is as if he has two separate personalities. - the charming psychopath and the bumbling fuck-up.  It just doesn't work for me.

Warning, this book can not be read as a standalone.  It probably shouldn't be read unless the first series is completely read.  This book is all about dark, depraved inhuman acts trying to pass off as sex.  This isn't BDSM except in the BDSM snuff/non-con porny kind of way.  This isn't exactly BDSM hostile.  It is dark kink fantasy that is obviously criminal and not conducive to one's health.  This being said, for those who enjoy the sadistic kinky tortures, this is definitely fapping fodder if I ever came across one.

When it comes to torturing a female, they say that a female torturer knows best.  I might have to agree with this because author Ms. Mandara creates some creative horrific ways to beat, batter and abuse a woman.  And somehow, this woman still gets off.  Yeah, not exactly buying it, but it is a dark fantasy so who am I to argue?

There are so many things wrong in this story, not written wrong.  Characters doing wrong things.  It is as if no one can be honest.  Instead, there is constant back stabbing of friends and basically doing everything possible to break a friendship.  I am puzzled how these people are still together when I can't even keep a friendship with all the good and nice things I do for people.  Regardless, this completely messed up relationships between James and Leader, James and Adie, Adie and Lois, and Lois with Addie, it boggles the mind.  I kind of thought this was the last in a trilogy and I'd receive my happily ever after.  Nope.  This is not the end which means there are probably another two books in this series and I'm not sure I can take it.  I feel badly for Adie and yet I hate him at times.  I know how Lois feels.  This dark depraved non-con is recommended for people who enjoy pain, torment and conflicting feelings.  This is not for any fluffy bunnies looking for a happily ever after.
