Devilish dark, this duology kicks off with a vengeance. The Devil you know is better than the Devil you don't is an adage Isabelle is living.  Her newfound half-brother Carlton may be controlling and a jerk, but he is at least her brother and interested in protecting her.  Whereas Jericho, a mysterious man who rips her away from her remaining family. This dark tale is filled with kinky overtones misusing and abusing the BDSM lifestyle.  Not surprisingly as a secret society of men who treat women like property always end up corrupting something beautiful and making it nasty.

Isabelle is only 19 and her life has been in turmoil.  A bit over 3 years ago, she lost the last of her family only to find that she has family she knew nothing about.  Thrown into a world of corruption, bad blood family feuds, and a sexual awakening.  I have some issues with this story because of its dub-con nature.  I enjoy reading dub-con and non-con.  This one, it does make the kinky lifestyle come across in a bad light.  As in her verbal no is overwritten because her body says yes.  If you have a trigger for this, then don't read this book.  If you like this kind of thing in FICTION, then carry on.

Jericho.  What can I say about Jericho?  His sexual existence turns me on.  If it were me in Isabelle's position... COME ON DADDY!  SPANK ME!  hehe.  Jericho is 12 years older than Isabelle and that works well for me.  I love an older man.  In this case, whilst Jericho is technically older, his maturity level is questionable.  He is carrying so much baggage that he needs a U-HAUL to help him travel.  Learning more about Jericho's history is interesting.  He's doing things for the right reason in the wrong way.  I'm with his brother.  I hope there will be a story focused on his brother.

This book does not end in a cliffhanger.  It does have a hook that makes me want to read the next one.  The extra 1/2 star in this rating is due to the sexual chemistry, tension, and scenes.  Yes, I can be bribed with sex.  I enjoyed the kinky dominance of it.  I really liked how Jericho enjoys his sex.  Not too thrilled about how the story is displaying an erotic power exchange, but hey, that's the point of the plot.

This erotic romance is recommended for kinky readers who like their romance dark, angsty, and full of drama.
