Duke's Pursuit by Golden Angel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Why have I not read more of Golden Angel books? I have been missing out. I have seen this author's name bandied around the kinky erotic reader groups for a while. I have even had some communications with her. The hype around her writing is completely on point. I adored this first foray into her writing. I have moved past historicals for the most part but Ms. Angel sucks me back in with her erotic novel.

Full disclosure, I picked up this book because it indicated erotic and sexy. Since this blog is now dedicated to the sexy times, I figured I would give this book a whirl.  The book sent me into a sexual frenzy. I have never read a book where the female lead is looking to find lovers.  Philippa is a widow and a young one. Her marriage was not a love match but it wasn't bad.  Her husband seemed to be decent even if he doesn't believe in fidelity from his end.

Let's talk about sex. I am thrilled to see Philippa strive to find a lover amongst the rakes.  Her discreet interviews are quite amusing. I love her prim and proper decorum in public and her curious exploration in private. There are several scenes in here that are unexpected and smoking hawt.  I love how Philippa learns more about the sexual relations can be.  She finds it amongst friends and old lovers.

This story is frustrating on one end yet so enticing too.  It is frustrating for me because we can see the train wreck that will happen with Everett's bet. I am stunned by how Ms. Angel lets this game play out. She holds nothing back and there are consequences to each character's action. I love this realism.  I thoroughly enjoyed this romance from beginning to end.  This is an unexpected gem and a wonderful way to start off the year.  I highly recommend this historical romance for erotic readers who want sexy times from an empowered woman.
