Wowza, the feels in this book really hit me.  This book cannot be read as a standalone.  It is best to read the prior book, Indifference of Heaven. Boyd and Caleb's budding romance is now maturing to something that maybe, just maybe Caleb can see as lasting forever.  There are family matters that threaten this sweet relationship in ways that are hurtful and some that are hopeful.

I cannot imagine what it is like to be Caleb who needs to hide himself from his family.  Having to be in the closet is so painful and detrimental.  It isn't as if Caleb wants to rub it in anyone's face what he likes or doesn't like.  He just wants to have a peaceful happy relationship with his family.  He also wants to love the person he wants to love.  Boyd is that one and their relationship is rocky at times, especially when life throws curveballs at them.

I love how instead of breaking up, Caleb and Boyd step up for each other and work to keep their budding relationship going.  I love this theme Ms. Dalton tends to use.  Through even the hardest times in life, her characters come through for each other, for the most part.  And if they cannot, there is a valid reason, even if it is hurtful and heartbreaking.

In this one, I cannot imagine finding out about a grown child.  Then to have said grown child needing help from a new-ish love interest.  Talk about through thick and thin!  There are several moving scenes in this story that show how love comes in many different forms.

There is kink in this story but for me, it took a back seat to the lovely romance between these two men.  The growth and depth are beautiful to witness.  This Throwback Review is for wonderful erotica that is recommended to all readers who want a happily ever afters.
