Review: Wrath

Wrath

Wrath by S.N. Hunt
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

Depressing and dark, Wrath is a tale of betrayal, torture, and abuse.  Let's dive in!  I am enjoying this series even if I feel at times that I'm reading blasphemy.  hah. Wrath is yet another brother who is looking for his mate.  Unlike his brothers, he's been with his beast since the beginning.  Unfortunately for him, a specific event has locked his beast away.  His mate, Luna, is also different than the other mates and on the run.

I imagine Luna and Wrath's interactions are similar to an amnesiac loved one.  Luna remembers everything yet Wrath is completely in the dark.  The poignant memories are difficult for Luna to keep from sharing.  The loving memories, including long ago gifts are a painful reminder of all she's lost.  Whilst Luna and Wrath are together under slightly false pretenses, they enjoy a peaceful and idyllic time learning about each other.  Luna remembers what she loves about Wrath.  Wrath is finding Luna irresistible and yet he does not know why.

From a character perspective, these two are not the most complex nor are they multilayered.  They definitely are not two dimension nor shallow either.  There are somewhere in between and whilst I understand their torment, I never quite felt moved by either of them.  They are both likeable.  I do like their funny interactions and especially the mistaken pineapple gift.  Nice shout out to all the swingers.

The plot is what pulls me in more.  Learning more about the archangels issues with the demons surprised me.  There are a couple of new insights that bring forth more questions.  The plot did feel a bit rushed in some ways.  The back history of the characters were quick flashbacks to give context but little emotional pull. The present with the fade to black torture also shields the reader from the intense emotions.  What did bring the heat was the sexy times between Luna and Wrath.  For those who enjoy a bit of naughty tail probing, there is a scene in here for you.

This book definitely sets it up for the next book . . . all about Lucifer.  I cannot wait!  This erotic romance is recommended to readers who love the bad boys with the heart of gold.

* I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
