Review: Master of Solitude

Master of Solitude by Cherise Sinclair
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Has it been 5 years since I read this book? I guess so. Yet I remember it with fond memories. How can I not? It is a Ms. Sinclair book. When it comes to sweet kinky sex and gruff men, Ms. Sinclair delivers. Her romances do include angst and difficult pasts to give more depth and layers. This one, can be read as a standalone and the title is well named in reference to the character, Sawyer.
Is it too much to ask for a man out of prison to have a nice quiet life now? Sawyer did his time and he wants to be close to his brother. Instead, he is saddled with motorcycle gangs who cannot take a hit. Plus he runs into Mallory, a quintessential cat lady, or is she? Ms. Sinclair does a great job of creating her characters here. Sawyer comes across the much beleaguered alpha male that wants to putter around in his cabin of solitude. Yet he falls for a woman with quite the attitude. Mallory is snarky at times and makes me laugh. The fact that she loves her cat endears me more.
This two have a time of it trying to have a relationship, whilst fighting off a gang. Still, their fiery interactions only bring them closer. Mallory is the match for the slightly tarnished knight, Sawyer. They may sometimes not understand each other verbally, but physically, their body language works. I liked seeing how Sawyer can rebuild his life and the support system he finds. Ms. Sinclair does a great job of creating a hopeful start to a new life for both Sawyer and Mallory. This erotic romance is recommended to those who enjoy the strong silent types coming to the rescue.
