Review: Where There's a Will: A Rockstar Romance

Where There's a Will: A Rockstar Romance by Candace Blevins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
In search of a contemporary romance between two men from majorly different backgrounds and wondering if it will work out? Check out this book. This book can be read as a standalone from the rest of Ms. Blevins' series. There are a few tie ins from characters in her other series. Those are little bonus Easter eggs for fans of her other books. This is an excellent erotic novel for readers looking for a bit edgier kink.
When it comes to BDSM scenes, Ms. Blevins is hands down one of the top 3 kink authors I read. Why? Because it is realistic when it is contemporary romance and out of this world when it is supernatural. In this one, there are several BDSM scenes that are a bit much for me, but enlightening. This once again underscores, "your kink may not be my kink, but your kink is OK" phrase many of us in the alternative lifestyle try to adhere. To be honest, I had to remind myself of this several times between Will and Davy. Still there were a fair share of scenes that were panty wetting goodness.
Will is a rock star - literally. He is used to fame and fortune yet he is down to earth. He is living his best life doing what he loves. His bandmates and friends are wonderful and yet he is still missing what he wants. What does he want? He wants it all. He wants both a male and female partner because he is bisexual. Menages are difficult to navigate but not impossible. When one is in the public light and the other wants to stay out of the limelight? How does this work? I think I know why this book is titled Where There's A Will...
From a character perspective, I found Davy to be sweet and the underdog. His past experiences helps him to be the person he is today. I like today's Davy. I want the best for him. Is Will the best for him? Not going to lie, for the majority of this book, I couldn't reconcile Will to be Davy's forever person. Why? Because Will would not be devoted to Davy. There would be a 3rd! On top of this, Davy is only into men. Will is clear he wants his 3rd to be some woman. Whilst Davy is monogamous, Will is doing his rockstar groupie sampling with random women! I am incensed. But why? Because I don't like it. Does Davy wrestle with this point? No. Because Will and Davy went in with their eyes wide open and they make it work. (I'm still ranting on my couch and my spouse received an earful.)
My issues aside, Will and Davy explore their relationship in all different aspects. Will definitely wines and dines Davy in romantic (sometimes sadistic) ways. Wooing Davy isn't easy, but Will definitely possesses the means and the desire to keep Davy in his life. Will seems to be Davy's reward for all his previously poor relationships. I just hope Will is good enough for my Davy. This story does end with a bit of a twist that hooks a reader in and wanting the next book in this series. Recommended for BDSM readers who love complicated relationship.
