Review: Bottoms Up: A Paranormal Rockstar Romance

Bottoms Up: A Paranormal Rockstar Romance by Candace Blevins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The second part to Silver's story, I really enjoyed this book. I cannot state how much I love Silver. I was questionable on her choice of partner . . . Julian. He is definitely more likeable for me in this one. For me, he came across as a supporting cast for Silver instead of being part of a power couple. However, with the latest developments, specifically because Julian wants to be a partner with Silver instead of a slave. This book is definitely an intense one as Julian prepares and tests for his freedom. Reader hold on to your hats!
Is it wrong to think of a person as lesser if they are a slave? I don't know. It isn't that they are less of a human and should be treated poorly. It's more that, they don't have the same rules for relationships with someone who is free. In addition, they are restricted in what they can do since they are owned. From a philosophical perspective, yes, yes, we are all owned in some way or another. Also, this is why we as a humans have been trying to do away with slavery. Unfortunately it is still thriving well in many countries. We just call it "human trafficking" now to lessen the impact. Or we turn a blind eye to it because it's that country's "culture". I digress.
Julian is at the bottom of the vampire hierarchy and now, he is working his way up. With Silver's support, there could be a real possibility for a change in his status. This does require a rather in depth training process that is not for the meek or weak. This change in dynamics is one that is thought provoking and not easy. I am impressed with how Ms. Blevins writes it from both Julian and Silver's point of view. There are ramifications taking this path. One of the things I love most about Ms. Blevin's stories is that decisions and choices have ramifications. It isn't glossed over and magically all is right with the world. Characters weigh the pros and the cons of big decisions. Some of the impacts I didn't see and I learn more about how people think and what certain situations could result in. I love it. Stories that make me think always make me happy.
The BDSM part is intense. This is RACK all the way and there were even times I winced and backed away. As a friendly reminder, do not try these at home. This story is a paranormal romance. This is not a BDSM 101 or 401 for that matter, HOW TO GUIDE. This is an erotic feast and it is meant to be fantasy.
This paranormal romance is recommended for kinky readers who love character development and happily ever afters.
